Myself and my family (4 of us) will be traveling to Baton Rouge for the upcoming INT Championships at Bennett's. Were going a little early so that we have a couple of days to see the sights. New Orleans will be one of our destinations and I wanted to get some input as to where we should stay while there. Also, if anyone has can throw out some good touristy stuff that a family can do, it would be appreciated.

Thanks to all,

What do you like to do?

For a family I would say make sure you do a Haunted History Walking Tour in the Quarter. These are at night and a lot of fun. Just take a walk down Royal St and check out all of the cool shops. The Aquarium is great as well. Don't miss either early morning or after dinner coffee and bignets at Cafe du Monde. Stroll through Jackson Square. Take a cemetary tour.

Most of all EAT and eat often. We have so many great resturaunts. I could go on and on with a list and will if you like.

As for where to stay there again we have lots of great places. The Hilton Riverside is always a good choice right on the river and walking distance to almost everything.. The Royal Orleans in the quarter is in the middle of it all. There is always the Sheraton, Double Tree or the W as well. Lots of choices. Just kind of depends on what you want to spend.

What are the dates you are going to be in town?

I wouldn't go to New Orleans without having breakfast at Mother's (http://www.mothersrestaurant.net/)

Debris is a must.

OK here is my list of places to eat. Generally I orderded them by my preference. I will split them a bit by price and make additional notes. Most of the upscale places have great lunch specials as well. These are all places that are going to give you a great New Orleans food experience. There are lots of other great resturaunts but this in my mind are definitive New Orleans.

Commander's Palace
Arnaud's (the oldest resturaunt in the US)
Cafe Giovani
Bacco (Go for lunch great specials and $.10 YES 10 CENT martinis)
Mr. B's (must order the Gumbo YaYa also New Orleans BBQ Shrimp)

Bourbon House
Drago's (Char-Grilled Oysters are to die for. Inside the Hilton)
Red Fish Grill
The Gumbo Shop

Central Grocery (Get a Mufalatta and some drinks then walk over and eat in Jackson Square or on the River)
Cafe du Monde (a NO must do bignets and coffee 24 hours a day)
Mothers (PoPoys and such. They are expensive for a sandwich but a NO instutition)

That ought to be enough for a short trip.

hegh guys, thanks for all the great recommendations...sounds like RADAR is going to have an event on Friday night, so that's cool...

Per Chris Rossi: "So I talked with the man, and it is confirmed that Team Radar is invading Bennett's in full force! There is even a Radar event on Friday night! We will have samples of the new Radar boot line for skiers to try on and place orders. The Radar boots will mount to ANY newer high end ski, so if you're in the market for new boots, hold off till you check these out."

here's more information on INT Nationals with skiing taking place on WED, THU, FRI, SAT at Bennetts in Zachary with the pros going on Saturday...
