I have the LTR330 small block chevy. Can i use an alternator from autozone for like 80 bucks instead of paying 350 from the dealer?

Marine alternators are different than automotive, because they are built with protective devises to prevents electrical sparks. You can check here also, http://www.skidim.com/products.asp?dept=1030&pagenumber=1&sort_on=&sort_by=, page #2, then talk to Richard and or Vince and get what you need if you use them to get a replacement alternator.
The money you save on a automotive altrenator to replace you OEM marine alternator may cost you and maybe others your life if there is a explosion in the bilge, but we can't make the choice for you, it's your boat, your $ savings and you and or others safety. Good luck!

Don't sugar coat it like that Harold. :)

I think you can buy rebuilt marine alternators somewhere.... might be a bit cheaper than new.

Sorry, I just stated one of many options this gentleman will have to choose from that I and others including yourself will post before this thread dies and he makes his choice as to what to do.

Got my whole set-up at http://www.jackrabbitmarine.com/

They are very helpful and carry all the stuff that goes with these alts.

I have the 150 amp so altfooter can hear the stereo up in his kitchen when we wakesurf off his dock. :D
