Looks like you had a great time! Hope you had good weather as we went down the third week of July and had rain half the week. Where did you rent the houseboat from? We've rented from Sequoyah and Springs but I don't recognize that boat and it looks very nice.

OhioX14...Pennington 33 Bridge Marina, now known as Beach Island Marina. Good people there! Weather couldn't have been better!

Gas prices shown were in Lexington, KY. That was a gathering point, but yes...not bad prices there. $3.65 on the water.

MS210...growing it for those who can't! I have been called a hair farmer a few times! 8p

P-hat, have you ever spent time in the northern parts of the lake, and if yes, can you comment or compare the southern section where you were at to the north? I've spent a lot of time on Norris everywhere from Twin Cove to points past Blue Springs and have often wondered what the section down where you were at is like.

Steve,
The houseboat trip is always a great trip. It's a time where we kind of let most day-to-day stuff go and really unwind. Some relax, some play hard, and most do some of both.

Thanks for the compliment on the boat. I worked a good portion of the day yesterday gettingt the accumulated water spots off and being nosed into shore puts a little more grime on it than usual. So...black is nice but it's a labor of love!
Thanks again.

OhioX14,
Yes. There is a definitive reason we go to that end of the lake. Although we go thru the week (not weekend), it further insures boat traffic will be at an absolute minimum. It's a little more 'river like' down there so any wind chop can be eliminated/reduced with just a few turns of the lake. In general, it's more remote and less traveled...and that's what we want. That advantage may be reduced in the future as there is a lot of development happening. :( Attached are a few pictures showing what it's like. 1 of them you can see the development starting in the background.

Take care all!
Paul

We are down at Hickory Star. We love it down there. Very limited boat traffic. Great boarding or skiing. And if the wallies are out and the wind picks up, the kids are always ready for a toob ride. Our family has a floating place @ Hickory Star and we are there most every weekend. We love that area....just went to 33 this past weekend. Lots of new development but beautiful area!

I guess we could have met up with a few TMCers if we had been there any portion of the weekend, but it wasn't to be as we were up at Deerfield the Sat, Sun, Mon (AM) leading in. On the flip side, people could have stopped by for a refreshment!
