My brother would like to get into a Monza next season and is looking to sell his 2006 HO System 8. It has a LFF Animal front and RTP rear. He's also throwing in the HO Global Skiier padded case. The ski is in perfect condition and you could not tell it was even used. Any clues on a fair selling price?? I told him $600. Is that out of line for a ski used one season? If anyone would be interested PM me - sorry for not posting in the Market Place, but wanted advice too. :o

I have three points:
1. That price is definitely reasonable. To tweak it, check out skiitagain, ebay, etc. for guidance.
2. It might be a little harder to move with a RTP.
3. I am not sure where your brother is skiing (speed/length) in the course, but the monza may not be the best choice.

I've seen new 06 Sys8 blanks for $432 at seattle watersports

That's the kind of price I guess you would see for overstocks/old stuff in limited sizes.
Any comment on reason for change from Sys8 to Monza? Need for more speed?

Thanks for the responses guys. I'll check out those sources you both listed. He is primarily an open water skier, but I believe his reasoning is to get into an even higher performance ski at this point, with a double boot set up. Rather than try to retro his System 8 and buy a rear boot he's feeling the need to go for it.

Seriously, I would strongly advise against buying the Monza for free skiing. He would be wasting his cash. I can attest that the ski is no more "fun" than other skis, assuming your brother skis for fun. In fact, my 8 year old connelly concept is much, much more "fun" than my monza.

I would agree...after reading several threads on the Monza it appears that while it's a GREAT ski if you're very competitive and course skiing, it's quite a handful free skiing in less than ideal conditions and it looks like fin settings are critical. I'll try to talk him out of it. Based on what his used would go for, he's already lost hundreds in the deal.

JF said it well. The Monza is an awesome ski but if your just strictly free skiing it's definetely not the ski for you. Buying a Monza for Free Skiing would be the equivalent of buying a Ferrari as a daily commuter car.
