Does anyone know how much (roughly) it would cost to have Perfect Pass installed into a 2001 Prostar 195?

If I wanted to have this done, who installs that sort of thing?

The perfect pass manual says 2.5 hours install time. If you can find a MC or other competent inboard tournament boat dealer that will do it for between 2 and 3 hours labor (Roughtly $150--$300) depending on shop rate, you have gotten a good deal. The key is shop it around. I had it done on my MC for $140 at a MC dealer in Houston (paddle wheel and all). Next time, I may do some of the install myself and let the dealer drill the hole.

My dealer quoted me $200 to install Perfect Pass, not including the paddlewheel (which I didn't need). So I had him order it for me with the MasterCraft gauge face to match mine and I installed it myself.

If you have basic mechanical ability just install it yourself. It is a very straight forward install and should take you about 3 hours including installing the paddle wheel.

Depends which system. Call Mike at MC of Charlotte. He has very good prices.

$1300- you can get it from lots of sources on the Internet. I bought mine from www.skiertoskier.com. They will get you a MC faceplate if you want it. Very simple install, I skipped the paddlewheel on my last boat, but it is probably the easiest part if you have the courage!

I second www.skiertoskier.com

If you install the paddle wheel with PP does that get connected to the existing (non PP) speedometer gauge also or do you need another gauge? PP is on my todo list and I would love to remove the old pickups on the transom (just waiting to knock one off walking behind it in the garage).

One speedometer is replaced by the PP control, so you end up with one "standard" speedometer, and the PP control that displays your speed digitally.

Can the paddle wheel be connected to the "standard" speedometer (as well as the PP gauge) so I can remove the old airguide pickups? I'm guessing I would need to replace the standard gauge with one that supports the paddle wheel.

The Airguides have to use the pitots. If you want a paddle wheel speedo you would have to replace the entire gauge. I say not worth it. Once you have PP there is really no need for a speedo. The Airguide will be good enough. I haven't touched mine in two years and it is accurate within about 1 mph.

That makes sense. Thanks..

I did the complete install on my 205 in about 2.5 hours. If I did another one I think it would less than 2.

The worst part was getting in and out of the boat 50 times to check the measurements for the hole and to get the tools needed from the toolbox.
