FWI, The Perseid's meteor shower is going to go down strong this weekend. They say 90 to 100 per hour in the right conditions.
Do to a new moon there should be no interference of it drowning it out.
Best times should be 12:00am through 4:00am .With peak show being on Sunday.
We have friends coming over to float this weekend and see if we can get a good show! So bring it on skies, bring it on!!!!

Actually, there is a chunk of a meteorite at the Planetarium that hit a house on the southside of chicago a few years ago.

Went out Saturday night and tied up to our buoy, turned off lights and say a great show. One meteor was so close you could see a long tail being left behind.

Lucky dog, we saw 2 Friday night and none Saturday night! clear skies too!! friends looked at me as if I was joking about the whole shower thing....That's what the whole excitement about this shower was the tails they would leave!! We had a good time anyways but was really looking forward to the show. Made a big dent in the cooler though:D

Caught a TON of them on Saturday. I would say one every 30-60 seconds. It was very cool, but by far the coolest thing I have seen has been the space station going overhead. We have caught it VERY low on the horizon and it goes completely from horizon to horizon in about 30 seconds... just incredible!
