I'm looking to get a bike.... I had a zx-6r and a zx-7r years ago sold the last bike in 01... so I been out of the loop for a while....

Was going to get a harley or chopper but I think I still want a sport bike... maybe take it to the track at times...

so what are the good ones now... Kawasaki, Yamaha, Triumph, Honda, etc...

what do you have?

what do you have? The Japanese bikes are the state-of-the-art in sport bikes, although Buell's are definitely worth a look. Likewise, BMW is excellent. I'd stay away from the Triumphs.

If I were looking for a crotch rocket...Yamaha all the way IMHO.

If you have a dealership around that sells Aprilia bikes I would take one for a spin ... Italian made but not the maitnence or cost of a Ducati, and they can still fit a tall guy ... I had a 1000 Falco in 01-02, it was a lot of fun, my brother took it out to the track and had a good time until he laid it down:) Anway, if you want to stay away from Rice go take a look at em.

thats a pic of the Tuono 1000R Factory, now, if you want to light up the track, take a look at the RSV 1000 R Factory ...

Around here, the guys I see most often, none have crotch rockets anymore. All are on cruisers. One of them still hangs on to his 90's GSXR 1100 but I doubt it will ever see the road again.
The guys I know that are not around here that still ride CRs, are all on Hondas and Kawis. FWIW.
I will say the last CR I rode was a ZX7R, it was a decent bike, but it always wanted to stand up coming out of the corners. Seemed to me the chassis might have been too short for the power. But I suppose all of that can be changed if you wanted something to mess with.

What are you looking to spend? New or Used?

I kinda have the itch again myself...has anyone seen or heard anything about the new 1400 Hyabusa? I had one and kinda miss her.

I am riding a Kawasaki ZX 9 RR. It been given a boost with the help of Muzzy's Racing, big bore kit, ported & polished and piped. She is a rocket and so light & nimble. And it's for sale!

mtnsun,
Gotta love the Muzzy..... PM what you want. I will forward the info on to someone your way that may be interested. Price it right before you tell me about it.;)

Mike, the last Hyabusa I saw a guy on was at the end of the race track and was just handed his arse by a Mustang. Otherwise, it's a good heavy bike....8p FWIW- I was really hoping to see a hyabusa in a snowmobile one day, until that day I'm going to keep piggy bank full so I can order the first one.:D

Don't take this as an insult by any means. It looks funny without the pipe in the right place...
I know, I know, it's so you can drag your knee around the corners without scraping the pipe...;)

"in The Right Place" ?? Thats An Old Design...but It Still Works. Suzuki Keeps Gettin On The Podium In The Ama Superbike Races Dont They!?

A Few Bike Manufacturers Have Changed To The Center Up Exhausts. Its Just A Matter Of What You Want To Ride I Guess

I can't decide if the bike looks tiny b/c it is a 600 or because you are so huge ... nice bike man!

Its Bigger Than It Looks...but All Sport Bikes Are Low In The Front...ITS DECEIVING. THE WHEELS LOOK LIKE THEY ARE DIFFERENT SIZES TOO IN THAT PIC BUT THE ARE BOTH THE SAME RIM SIZE TOO

My 2004 Honda. To be honest, all the Japanese bikes are built about the same. My Honda was bullet-proof as long as I owned it. And if you are dragging your pipe.... you will probably be dragging more than just your knee!

I know they are big and heavy but I'm old and they are fast and comfortable (for a sport bike). When I sold mine we dyno'd her...191 at the rear wheel...yes lots of work had been done but she would idle like a stocker and other than the headers and pipe you couldn't tell anything had been done. I just didnt ride it enough anymore...which makes me wonder why I'm thinking of getting another??

The Kawi ZX-10 is supposed to be the baddest. I had the 05 yama r1 which is cool... Fun but seen to many ppl dead in accidents, had kid, bike had to go.

I had a CBR f4i and loved it but just sold it. If you want something more comfortable with the performance of a sport bike, get a Harley V-rod. Those are fun to ride!

i think it all depends on the type of riding you want out of the sport bike. i ride a buell xb12r the top end isn't there maybe 150ish, which is fast enough to kill yourself, but the handling and cornering of this bike eats up and rice on the road. i ride with a guy that has an r1 and once the road gets twisty i'll lose him in less than 2 seconds. then theres the added bonus its American!

I contemplate getting another sport bike every now and then. I have had two but got rid of each of them because I was always nervous riding them in any kind of traffic. They were great fun on the backroads though. My last bike was in my mind the classic sport bike a 1985 Ninja 900. It was fast, handled great and was a nice bike to ride since the riding position wasn't as agressive as the newer bikes. I have a photo of mine around somewhere but I found this one on the net.

Same here. I had mine up until a really good friend of mine got killed while riding. I Sold it shortly after. I bought it new sold it 2 years later with 400 miles on it. As much I'd like a bike again and think about it often. I can't do it with the thought of leaving my family behind.
