Just curious about what speed/rpm that you say is difficult to maintain in your description? Mine does the same thing and wanted to compare.
Pretty much everything I know is in that description. It's not exactly that it's difficult to maintain so to speak. After I installed the edelbrock intake, if you try hard to hold the throttle at 2,175 rpm (perfect pass off), the rpms will drop, then level out a bit a time or two. Kick in a tad more throttle, and it's smooth as silk. Acceleration to ski speeds and all speeds below that are smooth without a hint of hesitation. It's just when you try to hold it right at that spot that it will do this.
Our (my dealer's) best speculation is that maybe it misses the headspace (as it's raised up 1.5" or that it's a flat spot in the torque curve. I would guess the latter. Since I ski, it's proven little more than an annoyance when I happen to be moving along at 2,175 rpm, we've never messed with it. We just go ski. It may be something that someone with a bit of mechanical inclination could fix with the turn of a screw. It just never was something I have worried about.

Nah, you just need more storage. Besides, Granpa still has the 98 205 when we all want to pile in together. :)

I have the same thing and think that it is the torque curve. Mine is a 89 351 with a slot,OJ XMP 13.7X17.5 prop amd when you are pulling about 2100 RPM's or 22 MPH it is a constant working the throttle to maintain. Runs perfectly so it has to be torque curve/prop selection. Again has nothing to do with the sale of the boat but good luck just the same. It is amazing how much stuff you can shove up front of a close bow. That said I have always wanted an open bow so no one is ever happy!

One tip, if you ever order a new boat, order it with galvanized axle/axles and you will never have to touch the paint up on the axle again. The axle on our '89 is galvanized and other than washing it, I've never touched it.

Damn!! I never thought of that!! I guess I will keep wrapping mine in packing foam and shrink wrap, until I have time to get it in for a full trailer tow bra. Wish you would have given me this idea 3 months ago!

Rustoleum or Krylon white over a grey primer. Like Gman said, not a perfect match, but you have to look really close (closer than any normal person would look) to tell.

How could bumping this post be a pain in my arse. Bottom line is that when I no longer own it, it's not my boat. So tower, salt, and countless other things that weren't my cup of tea, could be in the future. Not easy to think about, but that's the reality.

Yeah, but it is still tough! Our old Tige was a SWEET, SWEET, SWEET boat... not an MC, but cherry and totally optioned out. Our neighbor bought it and in 4 months he had blown the engine up (ran it with the thru-hull valve closed), crashed it into the dock and left a 2' by 2' spidercrack in it and bent the tower by going under a low bridge and hitting the tower on the bridge. From now on, when I sell my stuff, it will be to someone I will never see again. My old MC is up in Idaho somewhere... I hope that I never see it again, because the guy that bought it was not going to take care of it... you could just tell. He had the cash though, so away it went!! :o

They had some sort of sheath around the brake lines for that year, which is why I now have stainless steel brake lines. I'll check and see if I can get a picture under there tonight.

in 93 they did the rubber around the line inside the trailer. About 1 1/2 years later a lot of us had brakeline leaks from the moisture held between the rubber and SS lines. I went back in with a new SS line no rubber and no new problems

unless the brake lines on a 93 didn't get housed inside the trailer "tube" itself back then,,,,

I have heard the extreme works well for boats without towers, I guess on boats with towers, you just see the tower in the right and left panes!

Don't know about towers, but my experience is that you get a little bimini pole in the side panels. But overall, it has been great and skier visibility has been greatly improved. The real key is my wife likes it.

I didn't get a really close look, but I did glance under there once. It looks like there is a 2.5"1" square cut in the bottom of the tube well forward of the axle (port side of the trailer. The brake line runs back toward the wheel on that side, then across the axle to the other wheel. I'm no expert in this regard, but this is the best I can tell.
As for other drains, there are two drains on the back of the trailer where the diagonal tubes connect at the prop guard. This was added when we put the solid prop guard on there so that water couldn't pool inside the back of the tubes. It's on the front (tounge side) of the bottom of the diagonal tubes on either side of the trailer just above the prop guard. We put them on the front because the trailer is always stored nose low when garaged.

Those are the hinges. The seat back lifts up to provide for storage behind it. I have the "trim" vinyl with the replacement skins, which can be used to cover the hinges if the new owner so desires.

You ought to buy it right now.

This is your car! Stanley dewoski
is buick centurion convertible.
You're thinking,

not to buy a car like this.

Very nice. Is that David Byrne?
Boat is on ebay as a "Buy it Now" or "Best Offer" only listing. Price reduced to $16,500 as the replacement skins are off the table with the buyer having first option on them in a separate transaction. It's the least expensive 205 listed on ebay (and will be the only 205 listed on ebay in a few hours).
While I would still much rather sell it to someone here, after two weeks, it is time to push the listing out to the masses. But if anyone here wants it, email me, and we can work out a deal outside of ebay.

The boat went from "FOR SALE" to "SALE PENDING!" I declined a pending offer I was considering from an in-state ebay buyer and ended the ebay listing early.

I'm happy to say that a long time member of this forum, who was nice enough to make me an offer within 24 hours of my listing it on here emailed me today to say he was looking forward to "meeting me in St. Louis." As for who this person is, I'll leave that up to him to announce when he is ready to do so. As for all the other details of the transaction, that's between me and the buyer.

I'm sure glad it did!
But for what it's worth (and here's the useless hint as to the buyer's ID), the buyer contacted me within the first twenty-four hours of my posting it for sale here. So everything posted after that initial contact was just good fun and lots of pictures. :)
I traded my previous boat, so this is my only experience selling one myself. But in this brief experience, I can say that it's little more than good timing.
Then again, I guess it would've sold on ebay. But I much prefer the way it worked out with someone on here getting it.

I've sold two inboard ski boats in the past 10 years and I do not like the process. Like you, I tried a few angles prior to listing on ebay. But it was ebay who brought me my buyer.
The one thing that worked well for me on my last sale was to get my buyer to agree, that at his low price, he'd have to buy my boat from the dealer (at the buyer's price) as I used the boat as a trade-in against a new one. That is the one thing that made selling the boat myself worthwhile.

Yeah, ebay got the most exposure to interested buyers. Well over 2,000 independent IP views and 73 people (72 if you don't count Ric) watching the auction. I had a very good offer during the last 24 hours, but by then the Team Talk buyer had been able to work out the details and we got it sold.
Even though doing it this way involves a bit of driving on my part, I still prefer it.
Overall, the process, though short and sweet, got me a little more worked up than I like to be.
So you got a price, then got the dealer to agree to take it in on trade at that price? A lower price? So he gets a deal and pays the sales tax you'd have paid otherwise? Beautiful!

AND (at least in TX) the tradein value (sales price to my buyer) comes OFF the price of the new boat prior to calculating sales tax on the new boat
WIN - WIN - WIN
note: to the lower price question... it was only a lower price because my particular buyer beat me up, but whatever price you agree to, THAT is the tradein value.... IF you have an agreeable sales staff at your favorite dealership anyway! (because some dealers don't like to mess with the "in and out" as they call it)
Dealer likes it too because in the case of my last boat, he actually got to do the financing for my buyer. WIN WIN WIN WIN

That's what I'm saying. So they gave you your buyer's low price on trade in? I guess, for them, they get to move two boats quickly. Or three if you count the '04 with the crooked tower. :o

I dont think they get much out of "moving" the tradein boat, but like I say, they made a finance customer and probably began a dealer relationship with that buyer which could lead to another sale down the road of course.
oh and the crooked tower install was on the 05, thanks for reminding me

And they put it on a "homemade trailer" or so the story goes.
So both of your boats were 05s? Oh, I guess I'm thinking of the 04 TT boat, a/k/a the loaner.

Same one that sold me my 93 in 03.

So both of your boats were 05s? Oh, I guess I'm thinking of the 04 TT boat, a/k/a the loaner. "homemade" trailer was done by an outfit in kemah, yes, 1 04(loaner), 2 05's, 1 06 trailer(loaner) and now a really nice 07 trailer... Dealer was responsible for all but the trailer issues, yet he never left me boatless... I'll say it again, Darryl is a good guy. I think they got too big though. alot of those follies could have been avoided with good management.

Daryl is a very good guy. In fact, my experience with Todd was very good as well. Moreover, but for mounting my rear bimini straps well aft of the ski pylon, their service department was great for the two times they did work for me (perfect pass and bimini install).
Now the guy that used to answer the phone in the parts dept. was another story. Fortunately, I knew enough to have all part numbers ready when I called so he didn't have to do much thinking. But he did always call me back, which was very much appreciated.
Yes, the comment about management is right on. Daryl would always bend over backwards to put out whatever fires got started while his back was turned. My brother in law would probably have bought a boat from them had his wife not gotten the sleazy sales tactics from one of the guys there (not Todd). When Daryl got wind of it from my brother in law, he gave my sister-in-law the personal tour of the facility and was nice enough to show her the boat she'd driven over there to see in the first place.
So long story short ... Daryl = Good guy who no longer sells MC.

We all know Gman's boat...
Now the last one had enough red to qualify, but that big hole in the bow wouldn't cut it. But maybe Doug will bend for the right price. I hear those 196's go for like $14000 used right G-Man? ;)
I'd bring a check down today if you sold for that price. :D
