Need some advice on the best way to remove board rubs from the back of my X-30... Teaching a few people and they cannot control the board and rubbed the boat - looks like just through the clear coat...Suggestions?

If it's not metalflake, then there is no clear coat. Sand with 1200 to 1500 Wet-or-Dry sandpaper then polish out and wax.

This is an easy fix - don't sweat it. You may wish to also use a little dishwashing soap/water while you sand to lube surface and minimize sand scratches. I have the best luck using a small block of wood as a sanding block as well. This will definitely haze the surface and look like you ruined the gelcoat, but if you took just enough off so that the scratches are no longer seen, it'll buff out just fine with some 3M Perfect-It III rubbing compound. It's easiest to use this compound on a buffing pad and orbital polisher. Using the 1000 or 1500 grit and wetsanding, you need not worry about going thru the gel coat, it's about the thickness of cereal box cardboard+.

If you search the threads there should be plenty of other advice for this stuff. I bought a Milwaukee variable speed polisher w/3M foam pads just so I could keep the gel coat looking brand new when this kinda stuff happens. I wouldn't say it's paid for itself yet, but I'll have it for the life of the boat.
