I just picked up a used boom, and figured before I head out tomorrow I would check and see if there are any precautions/tips I should take note of.

It is a Skylon Aggressor Boom, but I think I am missing something. The two cables, one has a loop on the end and is the cable in the middle of the boom, the cable on the end of the boom just has a threaded end. What does this cable connect to?

The cable connects to the bow eye via a carabineer. You may have to do some adjustments on the cables, but there should be an allen nut to do that. I would also suggest getting the foam tubular ‘thing’ around the cables (as you can tell, I don’t know what it’s called). That will help save your bow from the cables whacking against it.

I am wondering what attaches to the threaded end of the cable.

A turnbuckle, for length adjustments. Some of the older booms used turbuckles instead of clampling blocks.

That makes sense, I guess a turnbuckle with a cable on the other end going to the bow. Guess I will be heading to the hardware store.
