View Full Version : Help Recording Audio

I have some really important audio cassette tapes and quickly need to convert portions them to computer audio files. My laptop came with a free recorder that will do 60 sec snippets. This is a one time deal and need to record several passages of longer length. Prefer to have something free.

The microphone picking up the speakers is adequate. Haven't tried a direct connection yet...can't seem to find my adapter plug.

How big are the files typically to record per minute?

Thank you in advance for assistance. It's going to get interesting...

70 minutes of .wav audio is roughly 800 mb. If you convert to mp3, you can get more on there. Nero has a sound recorder built into it as do various CD recording suites. There's an old program called Cool Edit 2000 that will let you do this as well (I think adobe own$ it now). Best bet is to plug the casette player into the computer's sound card using an rca (red and white) to a single 1/8 stereo plug.
