Well not anytime soon that is! I had been looking foward to begining my search right now since my wife is finally graduating. But looks like we are going to buy a new house instead. We really need more room with two kids so it is definitely the right thing to do. But I sure have been looking foward to buying my boat. Oh well guess I will just continue to hang around here and pester you guys anyway. :toast: My buddy still has his MC so no worries. Maybe next year.

At least you have your priorities straight. It won't be long. Houses are good. The boat won't be far behind.

Can't argue with your decision. I had to wait as well until my wife and I had finally bought our house. Plus, its pretty hard to justify buying a boat and keeping it out in the parking lot of the apartment complex...

Hey, we may not like thinking about it but the house does appreciate $ Wish all of my toys did!

I was in the same situation about 10 years ago. My wife and I decided then that we would get an older MC that we could afford and upgrade when the time was right. I bought an 84' 190 Stars & Stripes for $7K. I babied that boat like it was a new born. It paid us back with 8 years of wonderful family memories. I can't imagine missing out on watching the kids grow with that boat. Last year we upgraded to an 03' X2 (Sold the 84' to the first person that saw it for just a little more than I paid). We love the X2, but we all still miss the 84'.

My recommendation would be to buy what you can afford now, with a little left over for toys. The kids grow so... fast you shouldn't miss a minute.

Well thats just Unheard of!! Actually, I did that exact same thing. I was here quite a while before I bought my MasterCtaft. I agree with the priorities.

Wife and two kids, don't listen to Rod! :uglyhamme You'll be the only one there!

The more you know the better your decision will be.

Thanks guys! I know the Fam all would have loved to have the boat too but the house is more important right now. Hopefully the boat will come. At least now when I do get one I will have somewhere to put it.

This is actually my second house but the first house was a small house that had been in my family for a while. The new house is much bigger.

Congrats on the house Mgurley, now, stick to your budget plan and timeline to get the MC you want. It just takes time and sticking to a plan. I think you have the right priority.

House value doubles every 10-20 years - best and your really enjoy it
investments & stocks double every 5-10 years - best but you can't live in it...
MC boat ~same value over 10 years - good
Car value goes to zero in 10-15 years - money down the drain.

The next time you are thinking of buying a new car, just buy the boat instead and keep driving your car!

Where will you take it out? If you ever take it out on the Warrior River come down to Yellow Creek off Bankhead and look us up. 1989 Green Metalflake Prostar 190. If it's on the weekend it will be in the water.
