Ok just went over to Wakeworld real quick to look at the MC prices concering questions on X-1. Did MC really take almost a 10k increase on that model....?

I added all the X boats together and looks like 9% across the board from the Wakeworld numbers....

Looks like I will own my until the wheels fall off....I mean rudder falls off.

8.5% of that might be a delivery Fuel Surcharge... maybe you could pick up it up at the factory yourself!

I am in the trucking industry and the fuel surcharge hype is not adding 8-9%.

Just makes me wonder what the market will bear. Obviously MC has good market analysts, and knows the demographic makeup of their consumers.

It could be just MSRP. The X1 had an MSRP of $50 something but was selling for $42,999 last year.

I really like the 215 and recently looked into upgrading my '04 230VRS. I determined that I can't afford the 215...at these market levels, it's unlikely my next boat will be a MasterCraft.

I know they took an 8% increase on 2007 models. Did they do the same thing for 2008? In 2007, I believe MSRP is 42,999, but after reasonable options are added in, most are in the 50's.

I bought my 2006 X1 new in april 07 with stereo, stainless steel rub rails, tandem trailer and paid 42,000. A new 07 at the same time on the lot with same options was going to cost me 45,000. But then again my dealer sold all three X1 he had in 3 months.

I would be glad to give you hand but you will have to get in line behind and X80 and XStar I am about to start installs on.........

Back on the price increase issue...............MC sells every boat they make so why not increase the price? Sounds like smart businessmen to me. If you hit the point of inflection just offer up a rebate and realign for the next year.

IT's crazy.......It think it was 8% last year as well. We were really going to sit down and do the numbers on a new X2 or X1 and then we saw the % increase. WE were like  holy crap. But hey like one said their boats are still selling like mad especially with all the new models. Gues sI will just have to wait till the new ones become used and I can get one :)

Hey BigMac:

What happened to the X-230 or Maristar 230 for the 2008 model year?

Looks like MC got rid of it?

No idea. I haven't seen the 2008 brochures or web site. I'd heard that it wasn't on the 2008 build-a-boat yet, but that it was just a delay, not that it was cancelled. If it is off the list, I wouldn't be too surprised since I have to believe that the new boats on either side of it have encroached to the point where its market has become too narrow. I currently have a 230VRS (2004) and love the size, but I'd have zero interest in the current 230, which is about 700 lbs heavier, wider, and substantially more expensive.

Bigmac,

Can you afford a used MC 215?

I think the new X30 will be considered a mid year release, much like the New 214/X14 was this year. Is MC fiscal year July to July?

FWIW I think Bigmac could afford any MC he chose to purchase but that was not his concern......

Keep the market down by people stop purchasing MC's!! I was simply noting the used MC market is a little better than buying new!!

Geez, 6 percent increase I was looking to buy a 08--x2 this winter, which would already be pressing what I wanted to spend, I think I might have to start looking at a cheaper different brand boat. Like a sales guy at mastercraft told me, "Mastercraft doesnt care about the price, they just want to have the best". Well I agree with the second half but come on...

So we all know that MC is the most expensive. If we cut to the chase, what % increase is there from '07 to '08. Or is it different for every model?

Supposedly the rebate you can get in december went up however only if I buy before the end of the year which will make it close to the 07 figures which was 51k for the x2. But will have to see...

I think you mean 61k for the X2 otherwise you are getting one heck of a deal and I would recommend buy it now!!!! That would be used prices.

I would think, with this being Master Craft web site / Forum. The Master Craft peeps would pass on some new boat specials to the users of this site, or atleast direct them / us, where to go for a site user discount.

Food fo thought,

Man, I can't even imagine that.

If a low-volume, high-dollar mfgr like MasterCraft ever needed big programs like the auto mfgrs do in order to clear out inventory, it would likely take the form of rebates or deals to the dealer. I'm sure my dealer would ask "why would I give a discount to BigMac for being on Team Talk? That means he's already a loyal MasterCraft owner". He'd be far more likely to want to apply such discounts to people who are on the fence thinking about a competing brand. That's OK with me - I'd rather he be making enough money to stay in business and maintain a good shop.
