Am I the last to notice that wake plate on the new X30? Saw it at the Indianapolis boat show. Didn't see it in the on line brochure.

At the show I noticed a "tilt" meter below the throttle which really confused me and when I looked in the back there was a plate at the back similar to the plates used to level out boats. Headquarters guys said it was new and for wakeboarding.

It's called an Attitude Adjustment Plate and is new to the 245/X-45 and 230/X-30. Looks like a trim tab to me! I have read conflicting information on its use. One article said it should be down for cruising the other said up (down for cruising and up for wake sports makes sense to me).

It is not a trim plate, and should be in the fully raised position when cruising. It should only be utilized to adjust the "sweet spot" of the wake when wakeboarding. Maeghan and Zane felt like the best part of the wake was too close behind the boat and required shortening the rope too far. After installation of the plate we were able to move that "sweet spot" back to where the riders were comfortable (77.5'+). We drove these boats for almost a week after Dealer Days working on this...the results are nice.

For those just beginning you probably won't need to utilize the plate at all, but all of us felt that the boat needed to be able to meet the demands of not only families (core audience) but also serious and super serious riders. The wake matters at MasterCraft as much as anything above the water line and that is what truly separates us from the rest.

"MasterCraft...dreaming is no substitute for owning one"

We've used it to settle the bow down when crossing over other boat wakes in the X30. Older versions of the boat needed weight in the bow. Now it's something you can do with the flick or a switch.

MYMC, it sounds like the plate is used to tune the bow height under heavy ballast weighting. This would eliminate the need for added bow lead or saks.

I need to check out the latest WaterSki magazine. I think the MC ad may be a little off base  .

It should be a simple cost effective solution if it works as good as you say MYMC. Plus it isn't 2 feet of metal hanging down like the Malibu solution.

I'm actually expect more wake tuning/smoothing devices like this.

It is under the 245/X45 as well.

Trim plates on most ski boats were/are designed to move the bow down in order to stop a porposing (sp?) issue...this boat does not have that problem, that is why we only use it for riding not cruising. The real issue with the 2006 230/X30 and 245/X45 was rope length for intermediate and advanced riders. In the press release to all dealers it clearly states the plate should be in the full up position when cruising.

To be honest I never really considered using the plate to compensate for an over ballasted rear (larda$$ ?) but I can see the benefit...good idea :toast:

Even on the 190's and 197's they have different lips on the back edge throughout the years, having that lip programmable would enable you to compensate for many things, for instance I bet you could correct for not having passenger weight in the boat. Have multiple small trim plates. Some year we will see this.

Remember that this would not only change the stance of the boat at speed, but the shape of the wake. Might not be a good thing in this case.
