I have a 1998 225vrs that i just found out has a bent shaft. anyone ever replace one? Do I need any special tools?

The dealer told me it would be about a month for them to get to it. I don't want to wait that long.

Don't know where I originally got this "DIY", but thought it might provide some guidance. Have not had to do a shaft replacement so I don't have any personal experience. Hope this helps.

I would replace the strut bushing while you're at it.

It's not that hard to replace the shaft, it can be done in a couple of hours and does not require removing the floor. You just need access to the coupler and will also need a shaft puller like the one at Elberts.com. The puller works from outside the boat. The hardest thing about the job will be aligning the engine if it needs it. While you are at it, might as well replace the cutlass bearings, the shaft puller removes these as well. I put in Johnson XPC bearings and like the improvement in smoothness.
