Shorten up that rope! It looks like you are using a full 75' rope. Take at least 15' off. Try to stand a little taller, bend your front knee to get more weight on the front of your ski and bring your hips to the handle. Good luck!

I agree, go to 60' from the full line. it will make a huge difference.

also teach the driver (probably dad so be gentle, he's older) to do the bar bell turn. he isn't driving straight and is having a hard time controlling the boat. at 75 and your size that boat should barely move.

also, how fast are you going?

i would highly suggest that you and your dad or driver spend a day at a pro ski school. you will learn how to do everything properly and can take it home with you. without proper driving technique, none of the skiing ability in the world can be utilized.

you are doing a few things wrong but I'll start with what they call "double Pulling" meaning you are pulling after the second wake.

take a step back for a moment and forget about the turn phase, you seem to be able to turn the ski well. I would also leave the one handed turn for later, I know it looks cool, but it is not helping. you will thank my later.

slalom skiing has 3 phases.
1. accelleration
2. deceleration
3. turning

you do 1 of each per pass of the wake.

the idea is to be pulling hardest behind the boat and then transition into your edge change and go into the deceleration phase, which then leads to the turn phase, then accelerate again, decelerate, turn, etc.

you are accelerating, decelerating, accelerating, pausing, turning and not necessarily every pass. sometimes you seem to mix it all up lol

I see so many good skiers who've learned bad habits from either people around them or what feels most comfortable.

you're best bet to become what you want is to practice the acceleration and then deceleration phase. skiing is all about creating speed and angle across the wakes. anyone can turn a ski, they practically turn themselves when on edge.

you have to get proper form down in order to cross the wakes with "angle".

weight evenly distributed over both feet, knees bent, hips up (butt cheeks pinched or flexed like you have a pickle in your as$), shoulders back, arms relaxed out front and your head up.

look at some video's of the pros, there's lots on YOU tube, then look at you and practice by tying a handle and short rope to a tree. practice the 3 phases and watch what the good skiers are doing. you can video tape yourself doing this (let them call you names, but you will ski their pants off).

better yet, when you go to a ski school with dad, buy an instructional video and not one for tournament skiers. buy one that will teach you proper form and slalom basics.

good luck, you have good balance and all the right tools to be a very good skier, just have to get rid of some bad habits.

Ya that was the first day i got that rope. its now properly stretched and im skiing at fifteen off. I have another video but youtube is being retarded right now so i will get it up soon.

thanks for all the tips though. but i just cannot seem to keep my tip down in the water. and how would i go about properly adjusting the fin position and angle in accordinance to my boots. the boots are one hole forward from center.

Shoulders back, chest proud, ski your hips back to the handle. Do not pull the handle to your hips.

Preturn:

On your turning edge (after the pull) trying to ski away, from the wakes. This is sometimes called casting out.

Turn:

When you feel the pull from the rope, lean in for your turn. At long line, you have to be patient. Let the ski turn, don't try to force it around. This is when you ski your hips back to the handle.

Pull:

WAIT!!! Make sure that you have your hips back at the handle. If you pull too soon, you will break at the waist. Now that you have patiently waited for your hips to get back to the handle you can begin to pull. I hate that term, don't pull; LEAN. You accomplish speed across the wakes by leaning away from the boat. I thnk it is easier to think of forcing the ski up the rope because of the power in your lean. DO NOT USE YOUR BICEPS! Hardest pull is done directly behind the boat.

Practice this with a rope tied to a tree. Also practice repetitive leans on each side of the wake, pulling yourself out wide and then letting yourself drift back to the wakes.

The better your pull is, the more sense the pre-turn will make to you. The better your pre-turn, the better your turn. The better your turn, the better your pull... and so on.

Take lessons ! Keep skiing!
