okay boys, so it is that time to do the "owners manual recommended maintenance" of course i have the owner's manual, but any "tricks of the trade"...pages 52-70 of the manual shows everything step-by-step which is cool...any good deals on a "Cap/Rotor/Impeller" which are the only things that appear to have to be replaced every year (besides Oil Filter/Fluids)???

1. Lubricate starter gear & shaft (tricks?)
2. Change engine oil & filter (easy one, got this)
3. Check all safety equipment (hmmm, what does this include?)

1. Clean flame arrestor (purple power and water?)
2. Replace raw water impeller (easy one)
3. Engine tune-up (what does this include?)
4. Change transmission fluid (easy one)
5. Check engine mounts (hmmm, they seem tight)
6. Check prop shaft coupling alignment (how do you measure this?)
7. Inspect exhaust flaps (tight)
8. Lubricate steering system (how is everyone doing this?)
9. Lubricate shift and throttle system (tricks?)
10. Check/replace ballast pump impeller (is this only for ballast fat sacs?)
11. Inspect complete fuel system (what do you check here?)

Lubricant Indmar uses and recommends Pennzoil 15W40 Marine Oil for use in all of its engines. If Pennzoil 15W40 Marine Oil is not available, any 15W40 motor oil meeting the API ratings of CF/SJ, CG-4, CH-4 is acceptable.

Don't waste any time looking for Pennzoil Marine 15w40. WalMart may have it, but if not, pick up some Rotella T at NAPA. And if you can't find Rotella T, any old 15W40 oil that meets API CI-4/SL. And while you're at NAPA, get a Wix 51069 or NAPA Gold 1069 oil filter - don't even THINK of putting a Fram PZ-3 on that magnificent engine.

Indmar recommends Pennzoil because of some kind of marketing agreement they have. In no way does it reflect an endorsement of the product's superiority

tough to find Shell Rotella-T at any of our NAPA, but looks like some of the truck stops and truck service centers carry it http://www.shell.com/home/PlainPageServlet?FC=/rotella-en/html/iwgen/where_to_buy/app_wheretobuy_truckstops.html

our walmart didn't carry the Marine Pennzoil at all either, but the dealer sure does at $8/quart...

what about transmission fluid of choice for us non-powerslot guys?!?
- 1 to 2 qts Dextron 3 transmission fluid with 1:1 transmission
