View Full Version : Live Chat / Weather

Live chat could certainly be something that is possible. It would take some research but I know it can be done. I had this in mind along with another item. How does having a box on the front of the site that displays your local weather (depending on the zip code you provide in your profile) sound? These two items are on the top of the list after a few minor modifications.

TT Admin,

Both of those ideas sound great!

Sounds cool to me...Man this board have change a lot since 2 1/2 years and always for the better!
Good Work TT!
Next poll should read"How big a raise do you think TT deserve?" :D

TT Admin,

Do you have different options on how you will set up the weather thing. I think a national weather map would be cool. Any thoughts on that??

I'd vote for radar before live chat. I spend enough time on here as it is without the option of any real time stuff. Have mercy!

Maybe we can get Live chat with a weatherman ;D

Sounds like something I heard on Stern this morning.

They took Howie off the air here in Charleston. He use to be on 96.1 fm every morning.

I really think that a national (radar) would be great. I do kind of have a handle on the current weather in my particular area, but would be interested in what’s coming my way as well as what weather some of these other guys are getting:twocents:

I have comcast cable internet. However I have AOL Instant Messanger and that has a weatherbug icon in you system tray that gives the Temp all the time and any warnings. Also, I use weather.com which is ok. Anybody have any good weather sites they use?

also: waterdata.usgs.gov

Find your state top right and you can find your specific body of water: level, temp, etc. Pretty good site.

I pick up Howard (barely) out of DFW. He just got picked up in Houston and Austin (which rocks). They dropped him in all those markets a while back because he pi$$ed off a bunch of people with some crack about Selena. Back on strong now. :woohoo:

I stay away from Weatherbug because of all the adware that comes with it.

www.accuweather.com isn't bad.

07-22-2004, 06:30 PM
I run a weekly Ad-aware program that zaps all the BS.

I'll check out that site. Thanks.

I use this RADAR page.

Weather RADAR (http://www.intellicast.com/Local/USNationalWide.asp?loc=usa&seg=LocalWeather&prodgrp=RadarImagery&product=RadarLoop&prodnav=none&pid=none)

You can click on your area to get a local version also...
No body will get this in a few hours, but, it looks like Indiana is getting hammered!

Cool site.

Brian, I ran an ad blasting thing for a while until I found out that it came bundled with adware.

07-22-2004, 06:41 PM
Sweet thanks Beau.

07-22-2004, 07:15 PM

What do you mean "No body will get this in a few hours"

07-22-2004, 07:23 PM
??

07-23-2004, 01:46 AM
I use this RADAR page.

...doesn't work for Canada...:(

07-23-2004, 09:16 AM
Try this one. You can click on the particular area of Canada:

North America RADAR (http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/maps/satrad.htm?USA&Crad&8)

No body will get this in a few hours, but, it looks like Indiana is getting hammered!
If you look at the RADAR now, Indiana is not getting hammered, i.e. the storm moved through. :)

07-23-2004, 10:28 AM
I see Thanks.. I thought thats what you meant (light bulb smilie)

07-27-2004, 09:22 PM
I would like to see weather where each person enters zip code and you can see the list of wx at each person's location. Would be nice to see what the other people have for wx also.

07-27-2004, 09:26 PM

Maybe I'll work on getting hammered, the weather is nice!

Indiana Leroy

07-27-2004, 10:02 PM
Sometimes you're the hammer, sometimes you're the nail. So, do you want to get hammered or nailed? :uglyhamme

07-27-2004, 10:04 PM
Ok I'll bite, "Indiana Leroy"

07-27-2004, 10:21 PM
You can look up the weather by zip code at www.weather.com

07-30-2004, 10:27 AM
Thanks for voting guys. It turns out that weather won due to technicality. Live chat is
1) going to cost some $$ for a good application
2) be much more difficult to integrate

I will keep you posted on the progress...

i think it's great that the weather is there, but it always says chance of thundershowers. I know we have a lot of rain in the afternoons, but not everyday.
