I have an 02 X-star with the 310 HP TBI engine. I want to switch oil filters. From some searching here, it sounds like the Wix 51069 or Napa Gold 1069 would be a pretty decent choice for my engine. Does that sound correct? I've also heard of other's changing out to a larger/longer filter. Think that's necessary? It couldn't hurt anything, right? I certainly have room to put in a longer filter. Thanks for your opinions/suggestions.

OEM standard filter is a the Penzoil PZ3 (at least formy old LQ9 and current MCX). I found a cross reference for the Mobil M1-202 and K&N 2002, which are the two that I use ... change them religiously every 50 hours

I'd use the Wix/Napa Gold 1st or a
AC Delco if those weren't available

I use the Mobil1 M1-302 (long filter) or you can use the M1-111 (short filter).

The WIX 51069 is the correct one. That is the one I run in my boat.

The WIX 51069 is the correct one. That is the one I run in my boat.Wix/NAPA, Mobil, AC Delco are consistently rated among the best oil filters. The Pennzoil PZ-3 is made by Fram, basically a Fram Extra-Guard, and is consistently rated among the worst.

If you have the new LY6 the NAPA 1069 will not work - it is too long. I use the M1-111.

I have the same engine, the Indmar 310 HP TBI, only in a 99. Is it safe to assume I can use the same filter recommended -- the Wix 51069?

I need to go buy the oil and filter and change it out tomorrow. I would have to pull the engine divider and ballast bag to see what filter is in there now, and I don't want to do that until I do the oil change. Thanks
