My starboard side bracket was snapped during winter storage:mad:
I am now wondering if anyone would have, or know where I could get a bracket for my 1990 ProStar 190.

Heard of a place called Northeastern Foundries and will call them tomorrow.

In the mean time, if any of you boys or girls know of a way...............

Let me know.

In advance,

Thank-you

Rod

I think someone else had the same thing happen recently and the best thing for them to do is to find a shop that can make them one from the one good bracket.

Hey there. A number of years ago I upgraded to removable platform brackets on my '89 190. They are a 2 piece bracket that allows you to slide the platform up and off. I think I still have the receipt, I'll try to remember to look tonight and e-mail you the manufacturer.
I think I still have my original platform brackets somewhere in my garage. I may be willing to part with them for a reasonable fee. I haven't had the need to use them since switching to the removable ones.

I bought a set from MC factory, but I don't think they have any more.

I also had one welded back together, ground smooth and painted both brackets black.

I called Alloy and the removable ones are about $211.00 Might be a good idea, then I don't have to worry about the parking job they do at the marina when they put it away for winter.

We are now offering a folding platform bracket. The bracket allows the platform to fold down flat against the transom. So the platform is out of the way without having to remove it from the boat. Give me a call for more info.

Eric,

You should post the info on here, I bet you'll sell a ton if the price is reasonable! will it work on older boats?

I may have just found what I'm going to ask for for Christmas.

I'll have some pics to post on our site soon. Look for the brackets on the 08' MC's. We have two different styles available, a narrow mount and wide mount that should work on most previous models.

The only thing is the SHOULD WORK. I'd hate to put out the $$ have it shipped and find it Won't work.
Let us know if it will fit a 1990 ProStar 190.
And yes..........PICS PLEASE!!!

Just spoke with someone in the know at MC and he confirmed the brackets will retro fit easily so, "should work" came from the factory. As with all OJ products if it turns out the product does not "work" I will take it back.

I have a new set (removable) in the box that I bought from an MC dealer. I believe they'll fit 190's from 87 - 97. PM me if you're interested.

Gotta say Eric @ OJ was right on it but unfortunately the will not work on a 1990.

Reason being, the transom is curved (as are most) but the mounts are part of the curve, ie. the are not pushed out to be parallel to the boat. The mounts I got from OJ are not angled to account for that curve, so...............

Back they go.

Thanks for the try Eric, wish they worked 'cus they look amazing.

roddydog, could you post pics and cost info? if they are for a flat mounting surface, they probably WILL work on my boat.

Not sure if someone mentioned this already, www.alloymarine.com

If they don't have your brackets in stock, they'll build it for you.

Someone did. I may go that route, or I may try to get a metal fabricator to make me two new ones.

Posting pics is not one of my fortes, but I will try.
The cost to me was $305.75 shipping included.

The brackets for the '87 will only fit '87, '88, '89, and '90, in '91 MC went to the 2 piece slide in removable cast brackets with the pins, 1st generation.

Roddy - Please give me a call to discuss your bracket situation. I may have a fix for you. Eric

Just spoke with Eric and unfortunately they're going back. We discussed the possibility of a wedge to equal the angle. I had thought of that but the length of the brackets was longer than my platform, so they would have stuck out the back by about 4"-5". A real drag 'cus they looked amazing.

Thanks for your time Eric.

Just got my brackets from Alloy and the deal is, there is an 11 degree angle on both mounting brackets, then the ones that are attached to the platform are 15" long and just slide in to the brackets mounted on the boat.

So there you go Eric, if you want to make the extruded aluminum ones for boats like mine, 11 degrees is the answer.

Great, the 11 degree of angle to the transom was something I was not able to provide Eric when I sent him the tracing/drawings/pictures of our '89 removable bracket setup for use to come up with the fold down retrofit brackets for the '87 to '90 PS190
