Somebody may have already shared this one.

That would be a good project boat! How much $$ do you think to get it back on the water?

Starting bid of $999.00 - OUCH! Sorry - but it's not worth that much without a motor :eek3: - you need to add $9,000.00 to that so you dont' need oars! The first boat I ever bought was a comp boat (non-MC though) & was only $2500.00

They might come in handy if your tubing and need a refill.

What's up with the license plate on the boat?

All of the Barefoot MC's were outboards. Apparently this is one of the earlier (maybe earliest) ones. The taller pylon is necessary for the rope to clear the engine.

It looks to me like a New Hampshire plate. These were used through 1988. In 1989 NH switched over to the standard hull numbering.

Were the floors in this style boat wood?

G-man
02-22-2005, 02:27 PM
floors were changed to fiberglass in 1984, other wood remained in others areas of the boat that are not structural.

If that maple leaf boat was a one-off with a Merc 200 outboard I know where it is... But I think if it was we'd be able to see the cowl. Anyway, there was one permanently docked in the Canard River where I used to ski when I skied on Erie. It was used about 2x per year and I don't know if you could get all the crud off the bottom any more. It lived a hard, neglected life - probably still does.

And the best part is it has a 40 yr old engine in it! ;)

1980 Mastercraft
Ski Boat & Trailer Description

 this part; great boat for waterski enthusiasts.
"All you need is an engine"! Go's on to say, it had a 200hp mercury on it, but it blew up. Wonder Y
The boat comes w/ trailer and has mooring cover. Steering and a shift control for a mercury engine are included.

I'd probably be interested, if he'd throw in a set of paddles :purplaugh
But then again, I think I'll stay w/ what I already have :headbang:

Does anyone have anymore info about the old outboard on ebay?

I see they built that boat in 1979 and 1980 only. They also built a stern drive those two years.

They did not manufacturer another outboard till 1987 and discontinued after 1996.

They have not since made a stern drive. Anyone seen one?

I only saw one in a magazine back in the mid 80's. It had a Mercruser I/O.
I understood it to be a prototype used to pull jumping events.

An I/O MasterCraft, just dosen't seem right.

NOT ALL Where for barefooting. A majority where used for LD JUMP through 1990. The OLDER Outboards where Prostar 200's Same hull as a 190. Then MC came out with the Barefoot 200 in 1991.

The was a i/o that was produced for MC 1 or 2 years. Would like to see a pictures of that one.

If you look closely at the boat to the right in this shot you'll see it is a 1980 stern drive. The hull looks identical to the outboard hull pictured in this thread. I think it was powered by a Merc I/O.

Do you have any other photos that may show the I/O beside you? I can make out the rear engine cover.

The one thing tha makes me visualize the I/O is (what appears to be) the forward facing air intake on the left rear of the boat. I too would like to see more pics of this boat, but thanks for the pic of your 83. I currently have an 85 project boat and it is faded on the outside. I hope to get it sanded out to a shine without having to repaint it.

Thanks for the compliment on the '83. Unfortunately, this is the only partial picture I have of the I/O. The original is clearer but this site won't allow it to upload (too large) I could try to increase the size or send it to you via e-mail.

I read somewhere (maybe here?) that a ski club bought the boat from the restaurant and have it in their clubhouse.

What year is it?

"Some of you may recall the Mastercraft Salad Bar on ebay some time ago. I had emailed the guy to satisfy some curiosities on my part. This morning, I got the following email in case anyone is interested in buying this thing.

Need to sell the Mastercraft Salad bar boat. Must move quickly. I have over $6,000 in the boat. Sacrifice for $3,000. It almost has that value in parts. Help if you can. Thanks, Bill

So here's the story. My former roommate and I bought these boats with the intention of fixing them up. I came across another boat for sale that I bought, and he decided he had too many other projects going on so we're selling them. We havent hardly touched the big outboard from the day we got it. The small jump boat is a pretty neat little boat. We did put the 50hp engine on it (it had a 35) but we havent had it running yet. Once that engine is running, we're selling both boats, likely on eBay.

Both boats are located in southern MN but could be transported to just about anywhere in WI since thats where we're both from. Let us know if you're interested in either one before they hit eBay and we can talk. We need to sell the big outboard for $3,000 and the jump boat for $3,500. If you need more pictures, let us know.

I started it by making the point that all the folks complaining about the fact that MC is building boats like the 300 in an attempt to increase the compaines revenues and I dunno, maybe increase workforce and give people jobs, should if they dont like it and feel MC has lost there way should all trade in there 87 prostars and buy new 08's, 09's 10's and so on so MC can be so busy building prostar 190's they wont have time to think about anything else.

Very true, well Im out. Any 09 guys?

The whole thing is that I love my new mc and I love my old mc. I think they are all great but some folks are so resistant to change. I can remember when the 40th came out and some were up in arms that it was not S&S based. Love whatever boat you have, use it, show it off or don't. Whatever you like. People just need to be a bit more open to this or any company trying new things unless they are willing to keep the company going year after year so that the company need not look at new ideas and "loose their way" so to speak.

Duck...I'm not being critical, merely providing some background from my years of being on here. With that said, the last bit of that incredibly long run on sentence has been brought up before and never goes over well. Not everyone can afford a new boat. I love MC, but there is no way I could afford a new one. Consequently, when I upgraded from my 87 I moved into a 2000 and paid cash. Particularly in these stressful financial times, I'm glad I don't have a $500 boat payment every month. Especially considering it is 27 degrees outside and my boat will spend 5 months on a trailer.

duckguy
01-22-2009, 08:58 PM
I was not trying to make this a financial issue. More so that unless everyone that complains about MC loosing its way by not making only ski boats buys new ones every year to keep them going should be happy MC is doing what they can to survive these tough times. MC being strong keeps all of our values high, new and old.

I am having real trouble understanding why some of you can not understand what ducky is saying. I don't know him from a hole in the ground, so I am not biased on the issue. All the guy is trying to say is WE SHOULD ALL BE PROUD TO OWN A MC. It does not matter what year or model it is, and if the company continues to develop and sell boats, we will all still be in a good spot to trade up, trade down or simply sell. If MC production was stagnant and somehow the company folded, we would all take a hit in the wallet. I am new here, but I don't check what type of boat a person has. As a first time boat owner, I try to take some of the knowledge that is obviously present here and hopefully be able to use it in my own day to day adventures. Peace. :)

Without adding more speculation, this was DuckF*ck's exact comment. It is ridiculous and obsurd, but if he would like to come back, back peddle and attempt to play nice, than more power to him.

I also believe that anyone on the boards here that like to complain about the direction MC is going that have anything less than a 2008 should go out and buy the current model year of the boat of there choice, or else maybe should just sit down and be quiet, or maybe start theor own boat company with the wealth of knowledge and sense they have.

I stick by it Sodar! Unless you wish to upgrade traditional ski boat year after year to keep MC out of the 300 business then you should shut up about a new direction.

There is something like this 82 I really like. I think I have seen this color combo before somewhere.
Sweet boat, but this one has a very ugly interior.

I'm glad it's that guys boat, it looks like a big Pamper hung on the back!
He could always use it for a poop tank for those long days on the water!

Opps, 106 stays. I was very careful to not include that post, somebody must have been deleted and moved the post counts by one.
That one is my favorite:)

Did you call on it? Just curious if it was 100% definitely your old boat.

SkiDog

Yes, I did call about it, and so did Jim@ BAWS. It IS definitely my old boat, and no it wasn't very well cared for by the previous owner. I think this owner has completely redone the upholstery but says the motor won't turn over. He thinks maybe the cylinders have rust in them. The trailer is what I recognized right off the bat. the boat also has a Florida Water Sports decal on each side of the boat towards the back, and I've got pics with these on there. Just more evidence that's its mine. If I wasn't broke as hell right now, I'd buy it back or at least make an offer on it. It'd be a great project boat!

I'm not sure if any has posted this. I was just watching Caddy Shack on the golf channel and Rodney almost ran over 4 MC jump boats at 50 seconds in. Here is the youtube link.
