View Full Version : Submersible buoy system? Accusink out of business?

I am contemplating building a course to install through the ice on the lake we ski at. We already have a portable course installed at the northern end, but I would like a submersible course at the southern end. We frequently get a southern breeze during our morning skis. It seems Accusink has gone out of business. Any suggestions for a submersible buoy system?

Thanks in advance,

Jamie

I'm not sure if they went out of business, but my ski group has a used one that we might be selling. PM me if you're interested...

I'm not sure if you mean complete submersible or just individual buoys dropped through ice. A guy I know measured on top of the ice and dropped weights with sub buoys through the ice. He hooks his buoys on them in the summer. My course I built myself. It's a cable course and I take the buoys off and sink it in the winter. It takes about 1 hr to float it and a bit less than that to sink it. It took (not sure of datails anymore) about 1400 ft of clothsline, 24 lengths of ABS pipe, cable clamps, eye hooks, 2 anchors, and lots of rope. I measured it off and put it all together at home, took ABS off and took it to the lake. It was quite cumbersome, but once it was in it was nice. I made it for about +/-$600 canadian(that includes buoys from overton's with exchange rate). It was a lot cheaper than insta-slalom. Although I will say it's at the lake until it's no good anymore. It took about 7 hrs to put in the water initially. I may buy insta-slalom next time. But it's showing no signs of wear yet, and it's been there for 2 years now. Hope this helps. :)

James I will send you a PM.

Nova I am looking to install the course through the ice for accuracy and have the buoys be submersible in the summer. I don’t think the other residents on the lake would tolerate a second course unless it could be submersed when not in use.

Thanks for the replies. Jamie

www.airdock.com now sells the accusink if I'm not mistaken.

On another forum somebody posted this reply from Airdock
“Thank you for your inquiry however I am sorry to inform you that we no longer make the Accu-Sink submersible water ski course. We discontinued it early this year because.”
The email ended at because, we can only guess lack of sales.

Yeah, just saw that on the Nicholls board. Sorry for the misinfo. I had just seen the accusink on their website last month, too.

former Accusink patent has been bought by Wally, check out the improvements he's made to the system...haven't seen one in person but looks like a better system, certainly less problems and easier to work with https://shop.wallyskier.com/splashPage.hg

i'm anxiously awaiting a retrofit kit to convert my existing system to include his improvements, especially since i have problems with my varying course depths from 25' to 50'...

I met Wally down in Florida this past spring. Great guy, very enthusiastic. His redesign of the system is impressive. It should work very well for your varying depths.
