Just read that Jamie Beauchesne ran 2 @ 43 off on Saturday, July 7, 2007 in the semi finals of the Malibu Open in Lacanau France.

In other news, I'm still working on 15 off. :o

Amazing!

Think Parrish will turn up the heat now to get it back?? There were rumblings of him doggin it 2 years ago when he set the record, that he could have done more, but was "pacing" himself. I dont know if thats BS or not.

My bad it was a regular closed bow Response. you can clearly see the lettering and the closed bow in that video. The approval is good for two years so a 2006 is still World Record approved.

My bad it was a regular closed bow Response. Apparently there were no newer boats or LXis available in Europe. The approval is good for two years so a 2006 is still World Record approved.

Does AWSA approval even matter in Europe?

Keep telling yourself that. 2006 Bu's were not metric. This was a problem in Europe.

Any records set in the year 2006 with a 2006 Year model boat were upheld after review by the world governing body, but would have an asterisk in the books. any record runs with 2006 boats after 2006 are no longer considered.

I think USAWS requires an end of course video to certify the record. I can't recall if the tape ran out or what, but for whatever reason, there was no end of course video and, therefore, the record wasn't approved. Bummer.

Parrish Sets Pending World Record
Posted by: usawsOn: 06/14/2010 10:11:12In: Water Skiing
U.S. water ski athlete Chris Parrish set a pending men's world slalom record of 2 buoys at 43 feet off on Sunday at the Ski Ranch June Tour 2 in Covington, La. If approved by the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation's Technical Committee, the score will surpass the current world record of 1-1/2 buoys at 43 feet off that Parrish set in 2005.
On Saturday, Parrish recorded scores of 4-1/2 buoys at 41 feet off and 1-1/2 buoys at 43 feet off (twice) before posting the 2 at 43 off mark on Sunday morning. "I wanted this record bad," said Parrish, who set the new record behind the Ski Nautique 200. "I spent the entire week at the Ski Ranch getting dialed in. I had been skiing out of my mind so it felt great to be able to put everything together on Sunday."

I was at the tournament when Parrish broke the record. I drove the "L" portion of the event and was able to watch the Open divisions. Considering how much effort was generated to just GET to 2 ball, I don't think this record will be going down anytime soon. He ran 1.5 @43 twice on Saturday but couldn't hold onto the slack to get a full "2". We discussed the strategy w/ Chris on Saturday night and he came up w/ a way to minimize the slack and hold on for the record. Now, someone (Parrish included), will have to get a piece of 3 ball to break the record. It's a LONG way from 2 to 3 at 43 off!!
