I'm still trying to get the dang shower to work on my boat. I'm just not getting any water out of it. I connected the garden hose to the y attachment, and with that water on the shower worked fine, so there's no clog in the system.
I happened to be talking to Vince at Skidim, and asked him about it. My cold water attachment is between the transmission cooler and the raw water pump. He said that it should be AFTER the raw water pump.
Can someone tell me how yours is set up?
Thanks very much,
KWP

I wish I could help you but after I bought mine everyone thought it was a bad idea and there isn't much room for more stuff under my engine cover so I put mine on eBay the other day for anyone who is interested in getting one brand new for cheap! I wish I would have stuck with it!

Do you have the manual? If you do, could you check where it says to install the cold water intake? I'd be very greatful.

I can check tonight on mine if you like. Does the pump motor sound as if it runs? Also, I believe there are a few pics (not sure) at the manuf. site http://www.heatercraft.com/

I'm also interested in proper shower hookup. Have looked several times and cannot find that on the internet. Would like to see a flow diagram.
Also checking out your shower Ski-A-Rees!

I hate to say it - but check the malibu boat owners site at malibuboatowners.com There is a complete step by step install with pics. Engines are comparable so follow the install. :toast:

Looked at the manuf. (heatercraft) site and it does not show details. Sounds like Bu is the where to look

I just installed one this past weekend in my X2. The kit came with two "T" connectors (1-1/4" and 1"). You can either install in the raw water line prior to the pump or as I did in the ballast line. I picked the ballast line because I didn't want to mess with the engine line and I liked the idea of a shut-off ahead of the connection.
There is a really good explanation at http://wakeworld.com/articles/2003/shower.asp.
If all your connections are good and you have confirmed there are no blockages, I would suspect the pump. The pump may sound as though it is working, but the impeller may be gone. It doesn't take long running a ballast pump dry to kill the impeller. I suspect the same is true for the shower pump.

I finally found the Malibu post on installing a shower.

Brian,
Your selling the 100-S. The 300-S has a box/cabinet to mount the mixer in. Does the 100-S have this feature?
Thanks

Thanks very much for the pic. That's interesting. Your pump is on the pressure side of the raw water pump. Mine is on the other side. I talked to Mastercraft and to Heatercraft on the phone. Heatercraft thought it could be a dead pump, but I can check by putting the intake hose into a bucket and see how fast it pumps. If it's not a dead pump, I'm going to switch the intake to the pressure side of the raw water pump and see if that helps.
Thanks everyone for your help. I'll let you know how it goes.

You're welcome.
It seems like if your blue intake hose was hooked to the intake side of the raw water pump, then the raw water pump would be trying to suck water out of the blue line...the shower pump and raw pump would be opposing one another.

That's my guess, too. When I run the engine and take the pump side hose off of the shower Y attachment, no water comes out. I'm thinking that my shower pump just isn't getting any water.
I installed a H/C shower in my boat this summer. My cold water comes from the same place as NSXBill’s pic.

I don't know if the following Hot/Cold shower pics will help (NSX's looked good). Sorry for the delay but it took me longer than expected to get back to the garage.

Placing the cold intake after the raw water pump certainly makes sense. How is the pressure at the spray head?
As I said early, I placed mine in the ballast line. When I tested it pulling water from a bucket, without the engine running, the pressure at the spray head seemed low. I'm hoping it will be a little better when I get it to the lake. The rating of the pump is only 2.2 gal/min so it probably would help having the raw water pump pushing water to and/or through the shower pump.

The system has enough pressure to soak unsuspecting guests :D Of course I make sure the water is warm  Once you try this system you will never want to be without it.

This is a dumb thought.
Most of the time when you are using the shower, the motor is not running correct.
So once you stop the motor the water stops because the impeller stops moving.
So does that mean the pump can pull water through the impeller housing or do you just start to suck the water out of the engine.
Am I missing something here.

Being new to this whole shower thing, do you run your engine when you use your shower? Have you tried using it without the engine running? Sorry for the questions, the HeaterCraft instructions weren't much help.
I keep my engine running. I believe this is what heats the water, and the pressure is a lot better.

Good questions. I do run the shower for maybe a minute or two without the engine running. We have not recognized any change in pressure during that short time. I guess the water would get cooler eventually since the engine is heating the water. Usually, we just warm up and/or fill our wetsuit and/or warm up the bindings. Anyway, I will try using the shower a longer period of time this week and get back to all of you.

NSXBill is correct with the opposition of the water flows, the hose should be after the raw water pump.

Note: Professor's pics are of an LT-1 set-up but still show the cold water pick-up on the pressure side of the raw water pump. Good info for LT-1 shower-installers.

hot water port is coming directly off the engine block. if you run the shower with the engine off, you'll run out of hot water. Similarly, as the thread has discussed, the cold is pulled from the main raw water intake line after the impeller. It won't take long to use up that cold supply.
