Johnson Bimini's (solid color) are $100 more then what I can buy at Overtons. Email I received back from Johnson Bimini's questioning the price differential said because they are better and you get what you pay for. Are they worth the extra $$$'s and why?

I am trying to make the same decision. In my discussions with Johnson they make the top to fit the year and model MasterCraft you own. Overton's is a variable size top ie fits width's from 67"-72". Also Johnson will install zippers for Flyhigh pylons. :)

if you have a tower I would highly recomend towerbiminis.com.

Just out of curiosity, what does Johnson want for a sunbrella bimini? I've always been happy with my factory model, but I got it as part of the package for cost.

for my 2003 197 here was their reply
Thanks for the inquiry. Assuming your boat doesnot have a wakeboard tower the cost of a one color bimini $412.50, a two color $522.50, plus shipping. Includes all the mounting hardware and a zippered storage boot.

My Johnson bimini is around 15 years old and still looks great. The bows are alittle beat up ,but the top itself looks great. You get what you pay for(sometimes).

I bought one out of Overton's in 2001 and it has been ok. However, I'm replacing it with a Johnson really soon. I want a 5 strip two color. The quote I got with stanchions in the rear was $620. I just sold one of my 4-wheelers on eBay so I now have money for a new stereo and top. Wooohooo. :woohoo:

I have had one from johnson, on my old boat, and one from Overtons on my new one. I can't tell any difference. Saved a few bucks for gas, too!

I bought one from Overton's roughly four years ago. Had problems assemblying the parts, holes drilled in the wrong place.
Just bought another new one from Overtons, and #$@$^&^ holes are still drilled incorrectly. Talked to the mfg engineering dept and they said, "We're having problems calibrating the equipment". HOLY S**T, this isn't rocket science. GRRRRRR
Off soap box, it looks beautiful installed.

Anyone have a picture? I have a PS190 with a fly-high pole (no tower). My wife would love a bimini. I would love to see how it looks on your boats.

I am not sure what he is referring to in his mount but stanchions means... side mounted with a certain amount of mass hanging off the end or cantelivered (sp?)

I went with towerbiminis.com and it looks awesome. They took forever to make it and I had to call three times to get them to make mine (3 week wait turned into 2+ months) but the end result is well worth it. It was a perfect fit and the colors were an absolute perfect match. And I dont know how I went this long without a bimini in the Texas sun.....
