huh, my post didn't go through yesterday, sorry.

I changed mine this year on a 2001 205V. The steering was getting VERY hard through the turns. I knew it was time to change it.

Is your steering getting tough?

Now, There is 1 grease fitting on the steering cable and 1 on the rudder. If you've never greased them it couldn't hurt. Just don't do more than a squirt or 2. If you over grease it you could lock up a perfectly good steering cable.

Hope this helps.

As long as you keep it greased in the proper places and out of the bilge water and it does not start steering tight or lock up, you may never have to change it. Only change it when you start having problems.
