I think 03 was black and 02 was red

BrianM

Then what year was yellow? I just looked at a TT boat that was yellow and I am pretty sure it was an '03.

Sodar

A few years, had a couple color options...

Edit: Here is the answer to our questions, with pictures! :D

BrianM

Then that explains it. I just checked back through my e-mail and know for sure that the yellow TT boat I looked at was a 2003.
So '03 was black or yellow. I was just wrong about '02 and was confuded on the black because of the two color option in '03. I am positive that 04 on up was one color only.

Here is a yellow '03 TT #45 out of the gallery. http://www.tmcowners.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=4001&si=tournament

Sorry. but I can't agree with you. But maybe when I see a picture of it in the water..... I am not a big fan of black boats.
My favorite TT's are the 06 with a close second to the 07 (if you only look at it from the red graphic side)

Looks pretty nice. Black's a bit more work, speaking from personal prior experience - but it won't kill you unless you are in dirty water.

BUT WHY use the silver windshield frame this year , when it's now a black boat which could really use the black frame used on the several prior years??? Top it off with a black powder coated mini tower :D :D

Ooooh. That would be different. Black vinyl is NOT an option for me, unless they're just black accents like in my current boat.

Well, there goes my S&S hopes for the TT boat. Yes, I see there are some stars and two stripes. I want to know if the matte area is one big decal, or is that in the gelcoat. I really like black boats, but I prefer the 40th over this TT.

My initial reaction was this thought of the perfect vehicle to tow that boat. :D :D :D

This is the same boat that was at Nationals in Bakersfield this year. It has a grey interior. The black will not survive out in the hot desert areas of Ca...the waterspots will be a nightmare to clean. The decal is well, a decal that comes off. The really cool part is the GPS/PP tracking system in it. I know it has a specific name.....but it escapes me at the moment. You peeps will tell me what it is I am sure of it. ;)

Don't have the ZO head yet, should have it very soon. The PP system is impressive, as I am sure the ZO will be. Switching from one to another will be as simple as turning one off and the other on. As long as it passes the rules committee, yes the skier will be able to choose, providing the boat has both systems.

Members of the Tournament Team get a new boat every year as part of the promotional program. Most, if not all are rated skiers, rated drivers and or rated judges who attend tournaments and their boats are used in tournaments as they are scheduled/instructed in order to participate and stay in the program.

Just out of curiosity, what would the price difference be between a used TT and a similarly outfitted/condition used 197 be?

Depends on your timing. If a guy still has his old TT when the new one shows you might get a good deal. Some manage to sell theirs during the season before they are done with 'em - ie for fall delivery. There are some advertised around now that look to me like good deals.

Like this one, not too bad. There was one listed here in WI as well:

Members of the Tournament Team get a new boat every year as part of the promotional program. Most, if not all are rated skiers, rated drivers and or rated judges who attend tournaments and their boats are used in tournaments as they are scheduled/instructed in order to participate and stay in the program.

I've heard the same. With the explanation that they must be used in a certain number of events within a year. A form of marketing I guess. That's what one of the dealers told me.

The originalpurchase price might be less, but the resale would be higher I'd think.

The boat currently has Perfect Pass StarGazer. The boat arrived without the zero off gauge in the dash, the wiring harness and the gps sensors are installed, so it must just be the gauge that's back ordered. My dealer is currently checking delivery status.

Sounds like they're trying to hit a price point but still have the bling. If this is their plan, and they don't think their customer will notice, then it's a misguided approach as I believe the average inboard customer is a lot smarter than that. Also, if that same customer is looking at a Mastercraft they're already planning on spending more for quality and performance.

My understanding was that the 310 hp with either the 1:1 or the Powerslot transmission was never AWSA certified and I've never seen anything other than a certified setup as an option when ordering these boats. The only way I've seen them is just like Jim said 350 Powerslot or one of the 6.0 Liter options.

I can only guess that some of the boats went to athletes instead of tournament drivers and therefore were optioned with the 310 hp engine.

I think the 310 HP predator/RTP was approved in 2003.

I dug up this old thread (http://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/showthread.php?t=7575) of mine. I used to check the list every year as a curiosity and apparently, 2006 was the first year I was suprised to see no RTP on the list. After 2005 or so, MC started submitting fewer combinations for testing (probably due to expense). Also, an old excel file that I downloaded from AWSA indicates that the 197 was approved through 04 regardless of whether it had a 1:1 or 1.5:1 tranny. But the EVO 190 is only mentioned in the 1.5:1 configuration from 97 to 2004 (apparently the year I downloaded it). Grain of salt on that though as AWSA doesn't maintain that info past current year anymore.

If the RTP was approved in 2003, it would explain why there seems to be a few out there. How can a 197 with 310 HP max out @ 39, when my bigger, heavier 205 will get in the mid 40's with the same HP?

It's all about the hull design. I cant speak for the 205 but the 197 has a hook on the trailing edge of the hull. This is to lower the nose and flatten the wake which creates more surface area in contact with the water and therefore more drag and less speed.

Believe me I have been there.
I test drove the 2007 197 with the 310 and it topped out between 38 and 39 on GPS with one footer on long line. A friend has a 2007 197tt with the MCX which tops out at 43mph with a footer. I Had an 2007 X7 with MCX with top speed of 43mph with footer. I have ordered an X7 with the LY6 for this very reason.

AussieMC
08-29-2008, 03:48 AM
Mine does 42mph with a footer behind, 44mph without, GPS reading. I think it depends on if you have a powerslot and what prop you use.

gwpowell
08-29-2008, 04:19 AM

Also, I don't think your 205 is that much heavier. But as the man said, it's all about wetted surface and drag. I'm always curious about the engine marinization company's published hp versus actual, too. But that's a whole 'nother can of worms.

Finally something new for the 197. The green looks like a Prostar version of the X series switch. The red one is totally different. Either one is cool as a concept, but I could probably pass on green metalflake. Silver, red, or blue for me. Maybe the Mastercraft lettering on the side needs to be a bit larger.

Frankly, every time I think about upgrading and the cost, I have considered the fact that there would be little visibly different about a new or newer 197. This might help the case!

Also on that dealer's website the yacht is interesting, with the X-1 used as a "tender". Nice setup.

they must really want their promo guys to learn how to do some serious cleaning and waxing . since most these boats will run on private lakes that are filled with hard water and then dyed...keeping these boats looking good and new will be a chore!!!

i'd rock that green one ...no problem.!

sodar are you color blind??

Harder to clean than the all-black 2008 boat ? I dunno about that, owned a black boat before. Never again.

I like that MC is stepping out on the styling a little. Can't please all of the people all of the time. I have learned that from this forum....;)

Hmm. Don't see MC killing this thread as the TT boats are always made public at nationals. Don't know exactly what I think. I wish the black was black flake. Now that would be wild. I do love metalflake.

What no "Nightmare" logo on the 190TT.
Your missing out. Its crazy looking (meaning either you like it or hate it) - wonder why they didnt put it on that one?

197TT is sharp - especially with the tower added

They are both pretty cool looking when you see them in person. I'm still more of a fan of the 08' TT.

So there are going to be 2 color options again for the TT boats this year? Or is the green just going to be for the few Nightmare boats with the red the standard TT scheme? Last year there was a color option was 2003.

The green is the ProStar 190 and the red is the PS197.

So theres going to be about 97 of the red boats and 3 of the green?

Hi all, I'm new here. I currently have 95 Prostar 190 and am looking to upgrade to an 07-08 Tournament Team 190. I've only seen 1 07 190 for sale and haven't seen any 08's, they seem to be all 197's. Did MC build any 08 190 TT's ?

Thanks, Greg

Can anyone post the link to the 08 TT video of the boat pulling a skiier through the course. I think there was a couple of vids. I am in need of drooling a bit, and the noise of that beast makes me smile.

Although I cannot disagree that this is a vid of an 08 TT, I am think in particular of a vid or two where the exhaust was discussed as it was loud and you could hear the PP throttling for the pull.

I remembered it being louder too, yes I know the one you're talking about; I just can't find it.

Here is a Nightmare for sale with unmatching interior; if you could get hold of the TT graphics you'd be in business. http://www.boattrader.com/find/listing/2008-MASTERCRAFT-Prostar-190-Nightmare-Edition-91714942

That interior won't be missmatched unless they remove the mismatched green graphics and install some respectable color coordinating decals to do it some justice. What were they thinking, why not a mixed light gray with medium gray/black accented interior?
