I removed my battery to have it checked. I was wondering what this part here is for. The writing on it says "Hi-Amp Buss 40A". One cable runs from the positive post of my battery to this part, the other cable disappears under the floor (going to engine?).

Can anyone tell me the purpose of this? ('03 PS197 with LQ9 engine)

I've got the same thing in my '02 TT197 with LQ9 (minus the rust/corrosion) You might wanna take a wire brush to that.

I was thinking it was just a safety fuse between the circuitry of the LQ9 and the power source.

It is a 40 AMP Fuse.

Like #1 said, It's an in-line fuse to electrical control box. You need to clean up that corrosion.....

Thanks. I figured it was some kind of fuse. Just never seen one like that. I'm going to clean it up or maybe replace it.

My old 351 was so much simpler.
