I guess I learned not to stay on the highway for one more exit to avoid the back roads at night. There are 2 routes to get to my lake house. I usually take the slightly slower but more scenic back road, but since it was almost 11 PM I decided to stay on the highway for another 5 mins. Unfortunately, right at my first exit the highway goes from 4 lanes to 2 and also 65 MPH to 55. Since I already had the cruise set at 75 MPH I thought, whats the point of slowing down, I haven't passed a cop in 4.5 hours and there isn't another car within 500 yards of me. For those sitting on the edge of their seat waiting for the conclusion, I go about 30 seconds into the 55 zone and blow by a cop and am pulled over and ticketed for the first time in my life. Well at least he gave me a break and knocked it down to 19 over so that saved me $40  .

Just venting even though deep down I know I deserve the ticket.

anything more than 14 over is usually considered "reckless driving" good luck.

Good thing you were not stopped in Virginia, I read the other day speeding 20mph over the limit would cost you $1300....new state law to help out with costs of road construction

It states the law is similar to Texas? Have not heard this, any TX guys hear about $ 1,000. speeding tickets.

I guess there is no end to the absolute arrogance of elected officials to Tax the piss out of the citizens that elected them.

We are not as far from socialism as I had hoped we were.

I got pulled over last night too! I was pissed off...slow drivers in the left hand lane. So I decided to hammer it and pass on the right and cross three lanes of traffic to the left lane. Look behind me...sure enough, sheriffs is right on me with this lights flashing. Pulled me over and said your were speeding, changing lanes without your blinker, and driving recklessly. He give me a tix for unsafe lane deviation...$160.

It could have been worse, that's for sure
