GO get the boat out to have some fun. Uncover, lots of moisture from covering wet. Go to go boating get in water on trailer and try to start. Nothing just cranks. Try some starting fluid, nothing just cranks. Pull the boat back up and put a little more starting fluid in and boom it goes. Put boat back in the water and it started up. Was out for about 40 min or so just driving around with my fam at about 20 mph or so. I get in the water to go skiing, dad hits it and it bogs way down. Dad said it felt like it was hitting on just 4 cyl. so he killed it. I get in and get her started back up again with starting fluid. I feel the same thing. Felt like somthing may be in prop so i kill it and check. Prop was fine nothing in there. Try to start it back up, needed starting fluid again. Now my carb is a new rebuilt. It was getting fuel. Could the moister of gotten in the distributor? Why would it bog down? After we got back to the landing i took the boat out again trying to see if i could feel it and it was running fine. The temp was a little above 150 which is unusual so im going to check the impeller. But why would it feel like 4 cyl just hitting? Any help would be great

Since there was so much moisture when you uncovered it, my guess is that you may have water in the fuel.......I would start by changing the fuel filter(s) and check the fuel tank for contamination.............

Condensation was most likely the problem. Remove your spark plug wires from the cap, clean the terminals and put some dielectric grease on them. That should help prevent some of that from happening.

did that fix your problem?

That will have a lot to do with it running rough.............But I would still change the fuel filters and check the tank since it seems that everything has moisture on or in it.

its hard to test since it was only happening under throttle. Im drying it out as we speak and going to see if she fires right up. What kind of grease is that?

Dielectric grease is designed for electrical contacts. You can get it at any auto parts store usually in little disposable packets.

ok just put the distrubutor back on after puting grease on and it fired up INSTANTLY. Impeller looks good, one more question. How tight should my belt be? When it was moist the belt was slipping until it dried off. My whole boat basically had a morning dew on it from being put away wet. That wont happen again. So how much play should the belts have?
