Just finish installing new distributor, in my 1990 TRISTAR 351w engine.

Wiring loom, purple goes + coil post, black goes to - coil post, gray (tach) wire goes to - post. I have an orange wire, left over. I can't remember, what it went to. My boat has a questionable maintenance past, so can someone clue me in.

Thanks.

I found this on an other topic. It's from a '85:

I have an orange wire going to my solenoid, but I doubt that's your issue? I know I eliminated some stuff when I went to my DUI distributor...

You ROCK!

It's the electric choke feed.

Thanks everybody, for your support.

Hopefully you are correct but I'm pretty sure that the orange wire on the Indmar engines should go from the + side of the solenoid to the + side of the distributor. It is there to give a full 12 volts to the distrubutor when cranking. It should not be required with the electronic set-up so I took mine out. You have one end hooked to your choke now I assume. Where is the other end connected?
