Quick question for all of you Monza historians out there.

I ride an 06 Monza and a friend is looking at what I believe to be an 04, is there any difference other than the obvious graphic change?

Thanks in advance.

His is probably an 05, although they may have put the Sys 8 badged prototypes out in 04. From what I've read, same ski, different graphics. I could be wrong.

/I ride a pointy-tipped Monza Prototype with System 8 Graphics.
//MYMC will know for sure on this off the top of his head I bet. Shoot him a PM.

No changes to the Monza besides graphics except for the few pointy protypes.

Some of the early 67s (through 2005 I think) had some issues with putting Wiley boots in the stock locations. Rumored that that has been fixed by 2006 or so.

Also, I recall reading that some of the very early runs of 68s or 70s were not quite up to snuff.

Thanks guys. I will try to remember to snap a couple of photo's of it tomorrow morning before we ski and I'll post them for your feedback. It is a 68, so we'll see how it compares to my 06 67".

I knew of some troubles with the black ones, some of them broke.

I just bought a 2007 Monza about 3 weeks ago and love it. Skied a H.O. Vengence ASX previous and didn't relize how slow and heavy it was till I got aboard this rocket. Skied 1 ball past my personal best this morning, and my personal best was when I was 20 yrs. old. Now 41 and it feels damn good to say "I am as good as I once was", if I may borrow a Toby Keith verse.

How is your ski set up?

Sorry Jesus Freak, I got busy and didn't get back w/ you. I have it set at factory on the fin and foil. Tommy's Slalom in Denver set the Animal bindings and this is the first time I set up w/ an off set rear boot. The boots are set at the "neutral" position (equal in all ways except the rear off set). I usually ski fairly "shoulders back and shore to shore". I had a little trouble at my off side, getting a little forward at the ball. I used a old trick of inverting my handle, palm up on my off side and that was the help I needed. What I think I like best besides the speed is the way my new ski comes around hard at the ball and doesn't want to give away your angle, unless you foul up and give it back. Skied this morning at 5:30 A.M. because for the 1st time in years I was at a public facility. Brought my old ski; last time on that ride and last time (hopefully) on public water for a while, (what a mess). We do get spoiled on private water.

So your bindings are neutral, but your rear boot is canted?

Dude, is that YOU in that picture? Based on your postings, I assumed you could ski, but that is very nice.

Have you tried Schnitz's Slot Fin? I kept hearing how it tamed the Monza's offside, so I finally ordered one. It really does work wonders on the Monza. It's now just as fast, but it is a lot more predictable for me.

My friend has one that I borrowed, but I never got around to trying it. Maybe I will. I think I had some issues with getting it to fit on my ski.

It should fit fine. You do have to take out the back adjustment set screw to get the fin set up as far back as it needs to go. Look at Schnitz's site - he shows where the slot fin should be set. I'm using a mini-wing, also. I actually made my own mini wing by cutting down an old Goode wing.
