I am sure there are many threads on this subject, but I thought I'd ask again anyway. One of my kids docked hard and now I need to replace one decal letter on the side of my 06 tournament team 197 (the large Mastercraft decal)

Are there any tips on removing, preparing the surface and replacing a drip molded decal. I've ordered a replacement and should be getting it on a day or so......Thanks.....

Start with a hair dryer and, if that doesn't work, go with a heat gun. Use the low setting, and keep it moving. Clean the gelcoat, but do not wax before putting the decal on. It doesn't adhere well over wax.

NO WAX!!!!!!! You want the decal to stick directly to the gelcoat, just like from the factory. Clean it then clean it again!!!!

you can also use acetone to remove the decal residue ... just wash it afterwards

sorry for the thread-jack, but can you order just one letter? The t was missing when I bought our boat and now the f has fallen off (same side). The women I bought the boat from told me you had to but the entire set.

If you search ebay at alll, you'll find dozens of decals for sale for various mastercraft boats -- all pretty cheap

In that case, remove the entire decal and replace the entire decal and no one will know any different. As new as the boat is, I would try just one letter and see how it looks, it should not have faded that bad yet.
