View Full Version : Thermostat Stuck Open?

Today I noticed my temp was hanging around 100 degrees when I remember it being around 160. I am assuming that the thermostat is either stuck open or something is stuck in it not alllowing it to close. Anyone have any other ideas what it might be? The boat ran fine. I know running it at a lower temp will burn more gas, but will it hurt anything to run the boat this weekend? By the way it is an 06 x1 rtp-1 motor. Thanks

If you know for sure that raw water is going through the motor and the exhaust manifolds are cold, I would suspect the thermostat is open. If it has run this way for long, change the oil ASAP. The extra gas can make its way to the crankcase and dilute the oil. Take a whiff of the oil and make sure it doesn't smell like gas. If it does, definitely change it.

If it is a 2006 take it to your dealer, Thermostat is under warranty.

Does anyone know if I can get the gasket at NAPA. I would like to look at the thermostat today if I can find a gasket. Unfortunatly, my closest dealer is an eight hour round trip drive.
