I took a slalom run, too.

I was actually on my slalom 1 week prior to footin'....my front leg was the leg that got the resurfacing....

You have to love modern medicine.

Did Dr. Rogerson do your surgery in Madison? My cowork was probably in the OR during your procedure if it was Dr. Rogerson.

Yup, Dr. Rogerson did it on Dec 8th.....he's a super doctor!!!!

There are some Dr's in the area doing this procedure now, too. If I had to do another one, I'd go back to him. He's done 100+ and no one else in the state has done more than a dozen or so....

Johnny,

How old are you? (sorry)

What is the reason for the replacement?

Thanks -Steve

I'm 36 which is way to young for this.

For some reason, probably an injury somewhere along the way, the cartilege in my left hip joint pretty much died off....I've been living in pain for 3 years and a large portion of that time, the joint was bone-on-bone.

The other hip joint is perfectly healthy at this time.

I'm happy for you! Looks like you were having a great time.

By the way how does resurfacing compare to a replacement?

Basically, if I had a replacement there would be many restrictions including lifting limits, range of motion limits, no running, very little sports activity, etc.

Resurfacing = no restrictions.

I don't plan to run again for exercise (my choice), but will be able to play volleyball, basketball, soccer, etc.

Just keep an awareness of your range of motion. That was the first sign that I had an issue....hip joint soreness might also be related to bricitis or tendonitis of the IT Band where it crosses over the femur at the hip.

However, pain is a sign that you should pay attention to. If I had understood my problem early instead of ignoring it and then being mis-diagnosed, the end result may have been different. There are a handful of Dr.s that can do hip arthroscopy to clean up a damaged joint.

I know several ex-pro show skiers that have had hip replacements done at the ages of 38-42. Flip/gainer guys. All very strong guys pushing 190-220lbs in very good shape. Jumping days are over!

I think it was the boat driving that makes you look so good;)
