Just curious to see how everyone's S&S boats do with gas. If you all will, post what year and what engine you have and how long it takes (in hours) to run through however many gallons.

With gas at $3+ a gallon, I am trying to get a feel for how much it is going to hurt when I go to the pumps if I get this boat. I am assuming I might as well bend over and take it in the rear since most boats dont do very well in the fuel economy department!

It's really hard to tell, because it depends so much on how you're using the boat. If you do a lot of skiing, you may be around 4-5 gal/hr; wakeboarding will be better than that, and if you're just putting around the lake, you'll hardly notice the gauge move.

3 to 4 gallons per hour for normal skiing.

It sucks it up much quicker when barefooting or horsing around.

1984 351 PCM Powerslot.

We have done some long runs. 3-4 miles per gallon at about 30 mph if there isn't much starting/stopping. Doesn't seem to matter much if anyone is skiing.

Same here about 4 miles to a gallon. 83 SS Power Slot.
Beats the heck out of $100.00 a day. We ran our boat all day last Sat. for about $ 50.00.

78 mc SS in about three hours of boating usually go through about a half a tank. But that is always wakeboarding or skiing. Thats about 7 gallons or so.

My 2005 Prostar 209 with the 350 MCX is slurping about 6 gallons an hour. I only have 25 hours on it so far, but you can definitely tell when you're pulling.
