just wondering what everyone preferred as a trailer bearing grease. i need to buy a new tube and was wondering if anyone uses pennzoil multi purpose 705 white grease? it is a lithium based water resistant white grease meeting the NLGI #2 specification and recommended for boat trailers among other things. any comments for or against??

That sounds good. I never put too much thought into it, but I always used this stuff:

I use to use Mobil-1 Synthetic wheel bearing grease when I repacked my wheel bearings..................Never had a problem.............My new trailer has oil bath.........

You should be fine with lithium grease...........Just make sure to use new wheel seals...............Messy Job!!!

Me too. It's cheap, works good, lasts long time.

Good stuff, I've used it now on our '89 for 18 years. It's hard for lacquer thinner/gasoline and or mineral spirits to wash this stuff off when cleaning parts. Use it on my lawnmower too. Available at Wal-Mart and Ace Hardware

Jack up each wheel about twice a year and rotate the wheel on the hub, the try to rock the wheel to see if the bearings are still tight, check to rear seals and make sure they are not leaking grease, clean everything up, a couple squirts of grease if needed and keep Bearing Buddy/Trailer Buddy Bras on to prevent them from throwing grease from the BB out onto the wheel.
