............ a boarding ladder for the teak platform. I wouldn't need this thing if the girls had more upper body strength.

Mag, don't make the ladder!
If you do, you will not have the excuse to help them up onto the platform!

or you can put fat sacs in your boat so the platform is under the water line and they can just beach them self onto the platform.

So should I center this or put it off to one side??? I guess pictures would help eh? :D

How about making it easily removable so it is only there when you need it and not in the way the rest of the time.
Maybe I am a purist and just don't think it looks right on a ski boat.

It will retract under the platform. :headbang:

First I'd like to say I wouldn't put one on...but if you must...I'd center it. That way all the weight is divided between both supports and not just one. :twocents:

Plus, do you already have a grab handle in the center of the stern for boarding...it'll probably still be needed if they needed a ladder in the first place...

There is more wood and the support is right behind the ladder where pictured. And there is a hand hold notch in the platform on each side. Still thinking centered?????

Crap...I don't know...I think so anyway...but maybe cause I like things symetrical...

I was actually talking about up higher on the rear of your boat...the handle that is...but maybe you are on to something with that notch in the platform...I am sure others will give you an opinion...

I would opt for one of these..

….way before I drilled into my teak. Also even if it’s under, think about the drag in the water.

Mag_Red

I'll wait a while before I start to drillin :D Actually, as much as I hate putting this thing on there, I'm sure it will be helpfull to my 84 year old Dad. The fat asses can stay in the lake as far as I'm concerned. 8p

Resale?

Did you check out the link? I have one. This way you could keep it on the boat only when the ones who need it are on it. I guess the only problem would be the storage of it

Did you check out the link? I have one. This way you could keep it on the boat only when the ones who need it are on it. I guess the only problem would be the storage of it I could remove it when I sell so I don't think resale is really an issue. I checked your link, but I don't really want to store a ladder inside the boat, nor do I want anything pressing against the fiberglass.

Mag, If you must put that hideous ladder on, I'd go port side. That way the spotter or yourself can hop up quick and give a hand. It's nice of you to do that for your dad.....Fat asses = ballast. Move em around until the wake is perfect :)

this is one of the more innovative I've seen on a bassboat......when you lift it up, the pegs retract, and you slide it in

Mag the other thing if you've ever used one of those ladders is you need a handrail or something at the top to hang on to pull yourself over the top. Our houseboat last summer had that kind of ladder and it was bent slightly under the houseboat and was almost impossible to climb up. We tied a rope from the boat so you had something to help pull up.

There are also doggy ladders that might support him and they slide onto the platform and then it is basically underwater stairs up to the platform.

Looks good Mag.
It dosen't look like it will be in the water when you are at wakeboard and skiing speeds on a 209.

Out of curiosity, what did you use to fasten the ladder to the teak? Just some wood screws?

If you do, you will not have the excuse to help them up onto the platform!Still can't figure why Mag Red would make a ladder and wouldn't want to "assist" female passengers,
if they ALL looked like this

Btw, your steps looks great ~

I put one of thes on my 98 teak platform. I had mine centered and it worked great until the platform came apart. I don't have any photo's. But I wa able to glue it back together and put a piece of teak wood under it to reenforce it. I too had to have it for older parents and back knees. I sold the boat last summer with both platforms; fiberglass & teak. I removed the ladder and have it in a closest. I haven't don't this to the 04 boat yet?
I hope yours works o.k. without issues. If I find a picture (small enough to download), I'll post it.

I do like the one milkmania posted. I wonder how easy that one is to use compared to a traditional ladder like the one Mag is using.

Mag-Are you sure it's not your upper body strength in question?let's see........I weigh152 and can bench 185 so that's not the problem :headbang: I do think that if my shoulder doesn't start getting better though, I may need this thing myself. I think I may have inflamed a tendon when I went snow skiing with Jrandol.http://forums.corvetteforum.com/images/smilies/banghead.gif
