After 16 years and ~1,000 hours we decided it was time for an upgrade. The first pic is an 80 S&S bought new in 1980 by my uncle. He sold the boat to my dad around 1990 and then I bought it from the old man about 7 years ago. Pretty much original everything with the exception of an electronic ignition. And I did have the carb rebuilt two years ago. Anyway, an outstanding boat that has served my family for 1640 hours....and still purrs like a kitty today. See below...

It makes me sentimental thinking about how many days I've spent running the lakes in that boat. I learned to slalom, knee board and trick (although not very well) behind that boat. I think I was pulled behind that boat at least once every year since about 83...I was ten. That's a lotta years.

Anyway, here's our new baby.

******Now edited to follow in the next post. Barely 20 hours old. Couldn't be happier!

Thanks to the folks at Travis Marine in Knoxville...particularly Brian and Dave. So far so good...if I can just get over the fact that when I lift the engine cover I'm faced with what looks more like a computer on steroids than an engine. I kinda liked being able to maintain and tweak the old 351...but, such is change. I had to swear a solemn oath to my wife that I will not "go messin around with the new boat." (We'll see how long that lasts.)

Anyway, just thought I'd share. Happy summer...should be a good one for us!

Oh yeah, the S&S isn't going anywhere. She's at my brother's place. I'll catch a pull at some point this summer...I wouldn't want to break the streak!

Oh well...sorry I couldn't get the images to show up...maybe I should stay away from the new engine!

Very nice. I don't think I've seen a X1 with the traditional MasterCraft decals as well.

Congrats, best looking X1 I have ever seen, you shouldn't have a problem reselling her.......

Great looking X-1. I really like the MasterCraft logo accompanying the X-1 decals. They compliment each other well.

I agree with everyone so far. The only thing that has turned me off from the X-series boats is that they lack "traditional" MC decals/paint. I think your boat captures both the traditional style and X boat style very well.

Thanks for the comments...we're very happy.

KnoxX2, we're on loudon or telico most of the time. We try to get to norris every now and then. Say hello if you see us.

Nice boat, love the black and white. Never have been a fan of some of the colors that I have seen on the X1's but yours looks great. We just got an nex Xstar this year and have been loving it, 36 hrs in just one cold month of May.

Great story Ty, and congratulations on the new boat and hope you can keep passing the 80 S&S on within the family.

It is very cool to keep it in the family. I tried to sell my boat to my dad since his hasn't run for a few years...didn't happen. Maybe the next time I get the bug to sell.
