X-9 Sounds like a great choice. Or a Maristar210 might be a good one as well. maybe one with a tower :D (biased) You'll be hard pressed to find any X2 anywhere for 40k. Not likely at all.

Welcome aboard. Where do you boat?

I thought the 2005 X-2 is the current X-1? You should be able to go back a year or two and find a decent 205V somewhere for that price range. But the skiing won't be as good as a DD.

if you're boss has the X-2 for sale (which is also known as the current X-1 or the Prostar 205V or the X-star[up until ~2003 or so], why don't you give it a test run for skiing.

I noticed that the wake on my 2001 Prostar 205V flatten out above 30MPH.

DO NOT GET A V-DRIVE IF YOU ENJOY SKIING!

X-9 is a good boat, ski wake is definately bigger, but at 22 off it isn't all that bad. You have to give up some things to gain some, but overall it handles waves very nicely, turns on a dime ( ok maybe a penny) and the boarding and surfing wake are much better than a 190. A very spacious boat.

EDIT: Don't get a V-Drive (biased)
