Hello,
We are going to purchase a 2008 Mastercraft X-Star this fall. Does anyone know yet if there are any major design changes planned? I would hate to purchase a 2008 and find out the boat is being completly re-design for the 2009 model year.
Has anyone heard any rumours?
Thanks,
greg

If you like the current model buy it and don't worry about what comes out next.............it's a never ending cycle and you will be waiting forever.

No matter what you buy or when there will be a change so buy when the mood or price is right.

why wait an entire summer to buy a boat ... you might get a newer model, but you give up a summer of use

Diesel

Plus you should never by the first model year...... and really you should wait until the middle of the second model year to ensure all the bugs are worked out and the hull is proven by all the "experts" on WW to throw a killer wake..............so that puts us well into the summer of 2010 before you can buy a boat.

Not to mention if you wait until 2010 and the new hull flops (like the 210) the value of the "old" XStars will skyrocket and you will then be forced to buy a worn out "old" XStar with 500+hrs for the the same price you can buy a brand new one right now. Agghh what to do...........

While I appreciate the views of why wait... I am just trying to find out if anyone knows of major changes. I already own a 2002 Centurion wakeboard boat so we are not sitting around waiting without a boat. The XStar has been around for a few years and I would guess something is in store. We live in Canada so everyone purchases boats in the winter to be built and ready for the spring. I am just trying to make an informed decession. So if anyone hears of big changes planned can you let me know.
Thanks,
Greg

Why change the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If thats the case then we would have the LTR engine in our boats. Just my opinion since I have had the LTR and the MCX.

Buy an '08 or even an ''07 or '06 for that matter. Get rid of that dog you have now.:D

And if they come out with a better hull (is that even possible?), then upgrade then. Remember, nothing's forever.:D

The X-STAR is the best. I heard no major changes for 08. Only minor options, interior, etc.. If there was to be any major changes for 09, it would still use the same hull!! It rocks!

Hello,
So here is what I have been able to find out about the new 08:

1. There are new graphics. The graphiti is gone. The switch will still be available, but there will be a new one as well.

2. 08 will offer a 40 year aniversary edition. there will be less than 100 made.

3. Gauges will be the same, only wit red backlights.

Of course all of these fact are not 100% for sure.

Ahah! This plays right into my theory of a redesigned top deck on the same hull. 8p

Never mind on the top deck idea. I just saw the '08 graphics on the same boat.

I actually prefer to purchase at the end of production run on vehicles. Usually all the bugs are worked out and the product has been proven by actual users.

When you by first year of a new model you don't know at all what you are getting and regardless of the amount of R&D you still are the companies test pig.

Sometimes it works out and somtimes it does not..........

Glad I did not "just pull the trigger". Thanks to this forum and WW I was able to make contact with someone at Mastercraft. They confirmed 100% that there is a 40 year anniversary X-Star coming in the 2008 model year. All I know so far is that it's probably going to be ruby red with production around 100 units. I placed my order for one of them, pending seeing photos of the actual boat. Within a few weeks there should be photos.
It's great to be able to gain all the information to help make an informed purchase decission.
Thanks to all who offered constructive help.

Is this a joke? I thought that anniversary boats are:

1. Distributed to dealers via a lottery, and

2. That all info on the anniversary boats are kept completely under wraps until their "unveiling".

I must be wrong.

Here it is

Has anyone seen the port side of the 2008 X-Star? On the starboard side, pictured here, the grey arrow that separates the white and orange flows right into the the side of the "X". However, on the port side, the "X" would be toward the front of the boat (given that we read left to right) and thus would not have the cool flow of the arrow into the "X". Instead the grey arrow would be pointing into the stenciled "r" in the word "star". If that is indeed the case, I am not at all a fan of the graphic as I think each side would offer a pretty different feel. Just my opinion and something to think about.

June/July. Production usually starts on the new model year after the week of July 4th, although some will sneak out earlier for photo shoots etc.

As far as changes, you'll have to wait and see.
