Sorry to hear about these problems.

It could be simple or painful.

Did you check the oil on the dipstick of both the engine and tranny? Milky?

Can you see oil coming out where the oil filter meets the engine block, maybe it wasn't put on tight.

Check the drain plug, is it there and any leaks. In general look around the engine to see if you see any oil leaks.

Was the oil pressure meter normal?

About the water, how much was in there? Was it up on the motor? Does your bilge pump work and do you normally leave it on auto? Most likely leak is shaft seal. There are several threads on here showing how to change if you want to DIY.

Agreed.

If you recently changed your oil, check the filter connection. When changing an oil filter ALWAYS check to make sure the rubber seal/ring is on the old filter you just pulled off. If it's not, it's still on the engine and that is no good and you'll be out of oil in the block soon enough.

Have you had your oil changed recently? If so, by who(m)?

As mentioned, confirm your levels, quality of fluid, and do a general inspection.

Have you got oil dripping or on the bottom of your oil filter?
