my friend wants a new crossover boat to wakeboard and ski behind. his family is small. six people would be as many as he would usually have maybe even as few a four. what is the best new boat to ski casually behind yet still have a wake that can be beefed up to be near pro level? WHat is everyones opinion?

X15 vs X2 vs X1 (all 2007 models).

thanks in advance. once the thread is somewhat lengthy i will print it out and mail it to my friend so he can study and refer to it when he goes to the dealership to purchase. please list any and all pros and cons of any significance. thanks again.

Small family of six people? Any of those boats would be good for casually skiing. X15 is going to have the most amount of space, but the worst ski wake. X2 is going to have a lot of space and a good crossover boat. X1 has a good ski wake and legendary wakeboard wake, space is limited. X15 and X2 CAN have a better surf wake than the X1, having said that, the surf wake on the X1 is pretty good.

X2 for sure. Most room, best wakes, handles chop the best etc etc.

Forgot, good point Duck, X1 doesn't handle the chop very well. I bet the X15 handles the chop better than the X2, though.....

High Budget limit: X15 with attitude adjustment plate...most under-rated boat we build.

Lower budget limit: X2 with attitude adjustment plate...best all round for the mission you have described; however, it doesn't surf as well as a 15 and on the occasion you want to carry more people it can get crowded.

How's the ski wake with the plate?

X-2 will have better storage than the X-15...wouldn't get the X-1 though.

Huh? Do you mean the X2 will fit in storage better than an X15?

There is far more storage room in the X15 due to the 21'8" length and the 100" beam than in an X2 (20' long and 94" beam).

We can't say how the others are. But I will say that the x-15 is very good in heavy/rough water which we have tested. Loads of space, trailers well enough to take on a road trip. Bought it for wake boarding primarily with the attitude plate there is a noticible difference in wake and I am sure we will be happy with the recreational sking (no courses) we do. Plenty of room in the bow my son especially likes it with the bow filler cushion.

You can put people in the storage compartments on an x-15......I'm with Mike on this thread.

15 is you can swing the money, otherwise the x2 is a close second.

Having a family with 3 kids and one on the way, the hubby and the older 2 kids wakeboard. Hubby skis. Kids toob. The X2 is easier on the budget and can accomodate all you are looking for. We have room for everything and then some. If you want to spend big money for a few more inches, go for the 15. Otherwise, X2 just my:twocents:

We have just gotten a 2007 X15 and had to decide between X2 and X15. In the end we went for the X15 because of the added stability of the boat with the 100" width with our 3 kids. Stability in rough waters is amazing.

We did add the attitude plate for more versatility, cruising, skiing...

For the difference in cost, it was worth it.
