Replacement? Replacement for what? You will see 2008s in Late July or August,

I don't know what you have heard as far as a RUMOR. There is no 197/X-7 Replacement

Jim, I would be curious to know if you could "leak" any info as to what will be "different" on the 08' 197s. Is it more than rumor that we'll see changes to the boat?

You'll see changes like every year but nothing to the running surface. Look for new "X series" graphics and some new "dash" items. There are two new models coming in 2008 as well (1 new and 1 replacement) but the 197 is not one of them.

You can't just throw that out there without giving us a little more! :D

Had the guy from Malibu tell me that there was a "rumor" that a new 197 was coming soon since they do not have a 19' boat at all...certainly must consider the source as sketchy at best! Just anxiously waiting for a different 19' boat and was hoping MC was going to pull through for 2008 model year...

I don't know that I understand. It has been well over a decade (maybe more) since any towboat has been 19' even. The 190/197 are 19.7" up from 19.5" on earlier versions of the boats. I guess I don't understand his point.

I heard, if they use the right strength shrink wrap for shipping they can get them down to 19' from 19'-7" real easy and offer them as a option in '08! :D ;) I dunno, just what I heard!

OK, let's try to figure this out on our own. It will be hard to guess the new model, but we might be able to narrow down the replacement. I'm guessing either the a replacement for the X1, X80, X45 or XStar, hopefully MC learned from CC mistake, don't get rid of the X1. Any thoughts?

What niche is MC missing for a new boat?

That is a VERY RELIABLE source for sure

Malibu is so damned confused on what MC is releasing all they can create is "MALITRUTHS"

Sorry gang,
Looking for the under 20'0" future Mastercrafts whatever they may be called...looks like they are going to be 2009's at the earliest...

Not that they are,

But if I were going to release a replacement to a model I wouldn't let people know about it too soon to make sure I didn't get stuck with 100's of unbought boats in anticipation for the 08 or which ever.

Can you imagine how many people wouldn't have bought the last year of those ugly chrysler minivans if they new the round style would be out 8 months later?

I'm with you Doug ... around here the boats are titled/registered based soley on the measurement in feet, rounded down to the nearst whole foot ... 19'11" is still a 19' boat as far as the law enforcement on our waterways are concerned ... i think that there mus be some private lakes where they enforce the 19' requirement differently than the local sheriff or USCG ???

There are two new models coming in 2008 as well (1 new and 1 replacement) but the 197 is not one of them.

New center console - a given I'll call it CSX-6 hoping they add 4'.
In-floor integrated storage like the new CrisCraftwould be good

Excluding the X-1 & 197/X7, the X-Star is the oldest boat in the fleet. Product lifecycle hasn't been filled in any other V-Drive yet. Unless the 251/X-15 and 200/X-2 have too much overlaping relevance.

SO,
I bet on either a new X-Star with a freshened top deck on the same hull.
OR
Replace the 280/X-80 with a 26' footer, maybe sharing hulls with new CSX-6. But! Big high margin boats are the only ones that have stable sales through expensive gas or bad economies.

Of course I'd RATHER see them replace the CSX with a 24-26 footer and have the NEW BOAT be like a 195/19 Skier. I can dream right?

MYMC put in a word at the next dealer meeting. We'll all sell our 90's boats and buy new ones, do you think they'll believe it?

I was kind of thinking it would be nice if they extended the 197, to like a PS 205 OR a 203;)

New 195/203 I think we're on the right track here. Bu screwed up IMO by making the SLxi too big ((not that I'd ever question MC and their size decision on the 214)). I think MC needs a boat between the 197 and the 214.

Because the 197 bow is just a little tooo small ; alright:headbang::toast: :worthy:
