I don't think you'll find originals in production.

There are several threads dedicated to Zip SLeds though..

It took me over four years to find mine. Ebay and another ski boat forum finally bore fruit. Patience is key. They haven't produced them for about 30 years.

Negative Ghostrider. UMP has got three friends with kids, and I would like to have something fun for them to do when we are at the lake. My friends would like to get their kids on skis, and I figured something like this would be a good idea to start them out.

Sorry my friend. Both that sled and the stylin' PFD are a friend's. My zip sled (bob sked actually) and its backup are the yellow versions of the one pictured and after all the searching and begging I went through to find them, they are not for sale.

Plus, UMP, if I sold his zip sled, it would make Mr. Buddy sad.

NO problem!:) I will keep looking. the bummer is, you know there are a few of them out there collecting dust in the rafters of someones garage. They are big and bulky, not easy to ship so I am sure lots of people dont consider them ebay items. not really a pawn shop type find either, I mean who is going to pawn a dam zip sled! not easy to find for sure.....

Funny story. Turns out, they're not as antique as they appeared when we bought them. We took them to have refinished after we got quite a deal on them and they turned out to be particle board. Even fooled the guy who was refinishing them until he had one stripped. Glad I told him to go ahead and refinish anyway. They ened up looking pretty nice at the end of it all.

Shipping ran about $25 or so. Not too heavy, just bulky.

I bet I had at least $20.00 in tape on that box also!

Definately not easy to box up. But - it sure was fun.

And if he's not, we're still collecting them. Lot of kids in the family right now.

Had a blue zip sled when I was kid. This thread brings back a lot memories. I may be showing my age but I remember when I received the zip sled as a b-day gift tubing was just starting. People were using truck inner tubes. The nice tubes they have today didn't exist.

I remember that my neighbor had the predecessor to the zip sled. It was made out of wood! Anyone ever see one of those?

I'm assuming you're talking about the one of me. Yeah, they are nice pdfs. Real upgrade from the life rings we'd used the season before. I came across a goldmine of old ski pictures about 6 months ago.
