Anyone have an idea how fast a 1999 Maristar VRS 230 with LTR (330HP).

Our speedometer has never worked right. Initially I figured about 45 or so, but I'd swear we're going quicker than 50, and I have experience to know (been a while though).

...I know some on here have that boat but that's high for a MC.

Maybe the Maristars are geared a little different since it's more of a family boat than the non-Vdrives? This boat is very fast for an inboard.

Could I really be topping 50???

I've got a '98 VRS 225...basically same boat but with the base engine...I can get to upper 40s with my 14x20 prop on.

Yep, same boat pretty much. That sounds about right. Some guy who sold me the boat said they hit 55. I knew better and I highly doubt it but flying around today, the boat will really scoot. Moreso than any inboard I've ever been in. (and I own this one!) I love this boat!!!!!!!

I get between 44.x to 45.x in 2000 230VRS with LTR. I would be surprised if it were over 50. Check with a GPS.

Mine is 1999 Maristar 230VRS Indmar.Vortec 5.7. Tranny is one to one.
I had four people on board (no big folks) when tach went over 5000 I pulled back. GPS was showing 52. It felt like it might could do a little more. But, I don't like getting rpm's that high. Prop is stock I assume. I am not the original owner. The lady will haul!

You might want to check your transmission
I never heard of a 1:1 in a 230

Jim ,
will do . I have been told it is 1:1 the manual shows fluid capacties for both a 1:1 and a 1:5 to 1 for that engine. I recall checking once before but I don't remember how. The manual for the tranny is in the boat in the slip under cover. When I pull it out I will check. Other than the manuals what is the easiest visual to check?
Thanks,
Bruce

I’m reading from the manual of my 98 225VRS and it lists top speed as 45MPH or 49MPH with the LT1.
Gearbox options were 1:1 or 1.5:1
