Has any one used this ski and if so how did you feel about it?

I rode a 68 Mapple for a while. Very fast ski, but I never got it to where I felt comfortable. Always felt like it was going to slide out from underneath me. Sold it last spring and went with a CDX.

Sure, but I thought the tests would be an interesting read and I believe in Schnitz's archives there was some discussion about the Mapple ski?
OOPS...just came back after looking for the info on the site...couldn't find it...sorry.

Yes Mag your right I have a 2001 and a 2003 Mapple.
I love that ski. It rides deep in the water and turns fast.
Most people don't like it because it is not user friendly.
It took me some time to get to the point that I felt good on it.
I like the 2001 more then the 2003.
In 2003 they made it a little stiffer and it has more acceleration out of a turn.
Next year I will be on a SixAM

Jay are you looking at the one on eBay now?
If you are that is a 2001.
If you are let me know so I don't bib against you. :D

Just checking. I don't remember ever seeing the Mapple in any of his tests. Good information nonetheless.

No, I tried to find it. Consider it absent minded professor time.

yeah i am the one bidding on that one on ebay, feel free to bid on it. do you think that is a good price? it will also cost me $81 to get it shipped. i think the shipping is a little high myself. have you ever road a KD CR 7 my friend has one and i love that ski, that is the ski i really want but i can't really find a good price on one. do you have any comparisons between the two?

yeah i am the one bidding on that one on ebay
I see the one on Ebay you are refering to, sorry, I don't have any input on the ski itself. I am in need of a new one as well. I see the same seller has a number of skis that can probobly be had for $100, unless someone throws in last minute bids.

I have bought a few skis on ebay, and have paid between 20 to 35 shipping, $81 sounds high, try to have it shipped USPS to get the better rates. Also I see he has some double talk regarding the shipping cost. One place he states fixed shipping cost of $0.01 and another he says it may be as high as $100. Be careful.

yeah i e-mailed him and he said it would cost $81 i know thats high because i got a mountain bike shipped from Oregon for $30 and a bike is a lot bigger and is alot more heavy.

Jay,
I Have never skied on the CR7, but I do have a 2001 KD 7000. The Mapple and the 7000 do not ski anything alike.
The 7000 is a very good ski and the year that I skied on it I liked it allot.
I have got four skis on eBay and the shipping was $20 on all of them.
If you want a CR7 keep a eye on eBay and one will show up.

The thing about eBay is you don't want to bid till the last 10 seconds of the auction.
If you bid too early you just drive up the prices

I really don't need to buy that ski, I'm just a eBay junky.
I will also be working in Redlands today and Saturday.(that is where the seller is)

The one thing about that Mapple on eBay.
In my other post I said it was a 2001, but they did make it blue like that one in 2002 too.
The 2001 and 2002 are the same ski but they changed the screw holes for the boots.
The 2001screw holes are for the Force binding
You might have a hard time finding that binding.
On my 2003 Mapple and my new SixAM you can use both O'Brien and HO binding on it.

$81 is a huge rip off on shipping. I'd avoid it unless the ski is considerably less than its value because you'll take a bath on shipping. I bought my 02 Mapple (or maybe it was 03) for around $375 new two years ago and sold it for $360 after a few months of use. Shipping to Canada was only about $34. Domestic is around $30 (and that's with boots).

Heck of a deal. Nicely done. Ebay is a wonderful thing from all ends. My wife and I tried out several skis w/o the benefit of a demo program. I lost about $25 on the mapple, and we broke even on the HO ASX. Cheaper than an actual demo program.
