I like those speaker grills. Forgive me for being one who has never seen an 83 in person, are those standard?

Good job on the install.........

They are not standard. I removed the "tray" and installed the speaker grill that I made.

Nice work. Great head-unit install.

You need to consider adding a strip of material to seperate the two speakers. This is called a baffle. The way you have them installed up right now, the speakers will cause eachother to distort. You will also hear a noticible increase in mid-bass with the addition of a baffle.

Nice work, very clean install I love it. To bad you couldn't turn the radio around so you could acess it from the driver's seat though. Did you make that brace over your air inlet hoses too??

Self induced rattling is sufficient to overcome factory rattles. It's the old turn the radio up / what noise cure ;) .

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, I did make the brace...plywood with several coats of polyurathane covered with marine grade carpet. As far as turning the radio around, it would be almost impossible to reach via the drivers seat. I'm using an IPOD now so we do not use the cd player...

Man, pardon me for asking 83 MC, but where have you been since 5/2007. Are you in the military.

Nice job. I have an 84 S & S and have been thinking about a stereo install. Did you power it through the key or direct off the battery with a fuse? Off topic-How did you get your steering wheel chrome so nice?

Direct power off of the battery with a fuse.
