Im looking to buy a 205 or 190 this will be my fist boat so im really not sure what im looking at or for. I have been looking on the market place on this site, on ebay and and craigslist.com (in every state i can think of)
I wakeboard and would like to get a boat with a tower and thats not going to give me alot of trouble. (i guess what everyone is looking for).

Can anyone give me some input on these boats?

A few boats i am looking at on ebay:

Welcome. While I don't know anything about those boats in particular, these links should help with your search.

What to look for when buying a used boat (http://www.tmcowners.com/teamtalk/showpost.php?p=257514&postcount=47).

I'm thinking about buying a Pro Star 205 ... (http://www.tmcowners.com/teamtalk/showpost.php?p=112635&postcount=21)

If you have lots of $$$$ and want to wait until next season, I may know of a nice 205. :)

If you are planning on riding the board then between the two I would most definitely pick a 205 over a 190. Open bow for space and weighted correctly in my beginner experience throws a fantastic WB wake for a direct drive. Although I could be a little biased. ;)

gardinerbowen

is the 205 better then the 190 in space? witch boat will have a better wake?

east tx skier
05-04-2007, 01:46 PM
More space in the 205 due to the open bow. Wake behind the 190 will be a little smaller for slalom, but not by a whole lot between the 91-94 190 and the 92-95 205.

Pictures of my wake at all slalom speeds can be found here (http://www.bhammonster.com/shoot-out.htm).

/whoops, forgot you wanted wakeboard boat. Sorry, don't have any pictures of the lower speed wakes on mine.

The tower can be had aftermarket for just about any of the Tower MFG's. for a semi-resonable price. If you find the best boat that does not have one installed. Easty is the 190 narrower than the 205 or do they both have the same beam?

Wanna trade? I know I would jump on that one and get mine sold! Unfortuantely if and when we upgrade V-Drive is in the cards. More space for the squid(s) in the future. ;)

Sure they are! The wife is also partial to them as well. The sundeck is a big must for her on the next one.

Although I am partial to this little gem... Only problem it's the wrong shade of Orange. :(

I definitely appreciate the interest. There is currently one person on this forum who has a right of first refusal. If he decides against buying, I'll probably put her up for sale between March and May 2008.

So you are going to get a 197 or a 209?

I am going to start looking after this summer for a 205 or a 197.

I like the white 95, but that's my opinion. If you can hold out, I would see if you could find a 205 with a tower and PP already installed. I think this would suit you best if you like to wakeboard.

My friend is in the process of restoring a '95 205, adding tower, PP, new interior, new stereo, and custom ballast kit and sun deck for the rear. It's a urple 205, but will be a really nice boat when done. I will update when it's finished.

I am going to start looking after this summer for a 205 or a 197.

I will be looking for a late model, gently used red on white hull, AWSA approved, closed bow, no wake at any slalom speed, purs like a kitten, no tower, slalom machine (if it's already got the latest perfect pass, a bimini top, and a heater, so much the better).

As far as open bow boats go, for what I like to do, if that's what I wanted, I would, without question, keep the one I've got.

The hunt will begin after I sell mine.

I liked the (95) as well exp. it interior is kind of messed up a bit:rolleyes: ? I keep reading that it is mad money to get interiors fixed(1,900-2,900). I dont have much money after i buy the boat(were talking i have 12K) to work with (and i still need a tower, speekers, ext.)
the guy is asking 11,900(ill say 11K)

I am not certain but that looks to be a LT1 with a closed cooling system. If so I would ask about saltwater use and take it to dealer or if possible a compression and leak down test. Saltwater use would be a deal breaker for me but that is just my 2 cents.

I hear ya loud an clear. I am on a budget as far as my boating is concerned as well. I think you would be surprised about the price of a new interior. I don't know how much carpet is, but I'm looking to pay about 800-1K to have my skins replaced after this year, with quality vinyl and work. I will have to disassemble and reassemble all of the pieces though.

gardinerbowen
05-04-2007, 04:25 PM
Thats alot better then i thought i can def. take the pieces apart my self easy, I'll keep my eye on the 95 then maybe if it stays low enouph ill just have to buy that one. I would much rather stay with the newer boat if i can.

DOES ANY ONE KNOW ABOUT "benb" 1993 prostar 205

I emailed him a few days ago idk if he sold it or if he is just not around. Let me know if any one knows anything

Buy yourself something along these lines.
http://www.tmcowners.com/market/showproduct.php?product=1325&cat=5
Throw a Monster tower on it and some cans. You can have yourself out on the water having a good time for around $8k. You'll have $3k for gas, booze and women. Use it a couple of years, save some cash, sell it for what you have into it and upgrade.

Edit: Oh god what have I done. I actually suggested putting a tower on a 190

Nothing wrong with an older boat. I had a 1992 ProSport 205 for 14 years. I bought it new, and it was a very sad day when I got rid of it. That boat ran great, had a great wake, and was solid. That said, I love my 2004 197 that replaced it, and have no regrets. My point is that if you need to start with an older boat, try to find one that has been well taken care of, and you should not have too many additional costs once you bring it home. The wake on the early 90's MC is really nice for slalom, and with fat sacks I am told it is great for wakeboarding. Its not my thing, so I can not personally comment.

Good Luck finding the right boat, and welcome to the board.

Steve
