1st three are all V-Drives. Last one is a Direct Drive. X-30 is a larger boat based on the Maristar 230. What are you planning on using the boat for primarily? All great Hulls depending on what you are looking to do.

Was there an X2 in '02? I thought the 02 X Star(205 V hull) was renamed the X2 in '03 when the X Star got re-designed w/ the picklefork?

I think 04 was the first X-Star with the pickle fork. ICBW. :o

It looks like '03 was the first year for the pickle fork Star.

Looks like they're still holding their value well.... :D

No results for '02 X2...

Maybe one of the dealers will come around and confirm this.

Sorry to get off on a tangent. Back to your original question.

'02 X Star(205V Hull); I believe is MCs best selling hull design ever ICBW though. Legendary wakeboard wake. This is the hull I want in some variety(205V, X Star, X2, X1) when I'm ready to upgrade.

X30; Pretty much summed up by SanJuan

X9; "Crossover" boat. Would be good if you had both skiers and wakeboarders in your family. Only direct drive in the list.

X2; As mentioned before, to the best of my knowledge didn't exist in that year.

Like SanJuan said, all great boats, just depends on what your using it for.

What exactly does (or will) everyone do behind this boat?

If no one skis, take the X9 and X2 (if there is one) off your list, then it probably depends on the size and handling chop.

A pre 2005 X2 will be the same hull as the original X Star(205V Hull). I would strike the X9 from the list if no one skis.

What options does each boat have? What options are you looking for? How are they priced?

They are identical boats but options and price will differentiate them. You basically need to figure out what your looking for and find that boat. You should be able to find EXACTLY what your looking for in the 205V hull. Especially if you don't mind travelling a bit to get it.

If you want to have an unbelievable wake, get the X-Star. If you want lots of room and a nice wake (a little wide), get the X-30. Have you thought about an X-10. This boat is right in the middle. I owned a 2002 X-10 and it was a great boat...not too big, not too small. Deals can definitely be had in the mid to low 30s. I sold my X-10 a year ago for $37K.

so if you had a choice

2002 xstar 140 hrs loaded yellow 35,000

2002 x-30 200hrs loaded blk/white 35,000

only difference x-30 dont have the cold/hot shower
what would you buy,i have just been wakeboarding for a short time so i dont think the width of wake will make a diff. thanks

Hands down the X30, I had one for 4 years and loved it. Take a look at the room in the X2 and then take a look at the X30's room. The space is a big difference, so much more boat. We did not find the width of the wake of the X30 to be a big deal. Has a nice board wake, not so bad of a ski wake, and handles the rougher water very nice. I have had the X30 on Lake Michigan.
Even though the boats are a big difference in size the weight is only a few hundred pounds difference, X30 3300 lbs, X2 3050 lbs I think?

1st what are you pulling it with. 2nd the hot water shower is not that important I have one used it once (mainly just to see it work) dont know if you mentioned this do they both have the dual axle trailers. That is a big deal out here we tow everywhere. but you cant beat an X-Star. Just my 2 cents.

both have tandem trailers just pulling boarders, maybe a tube or kneeboard, but thats it

I think the Xstar that he is talking about is a 02 and the 205V? Smaller boat than the X30.
If he is talking about the new Xstar that is a different story. I traded out of the X30 to the new 06 Xstar. Like the new boat better.

a new wakeboarder would want a narrower wake that the 205V hull provides correct?

I bought one last september and I love the width of the wake. I'de say I'm a solid intermediate wakeboarder (W2W 180s, almost got the 360)

I'm not familiar with the X-30. How much wider is that wake as compared to the 205V hull. How does the X-30 wake width compare to the new pickfork x-star?

X-30...if you are just going to be a recreational rider and want a great all-around boat. Get to an intermediate riding stage in the X-30 and then see if you want to progress your riding. If so, then buy a newer X-Star ('04 and beyond)...awesome wake and as much room as the X-30. Either way though, you will still be very happy.

Also, don't forget to look at the X-10...middle of the road.
